Both of this player are in the hunt for Most Improved Player award. Monta Ellis plays for the Golden State Warriors and has helped the Warriors out in their success of this season. He plays behind Baron Davis and Stephon Jackson. Though for Kevin Martain it is a bit of a different story, the Kings have had a down hill season and Kevin has helped them out a bit. He plays about a minute more than Monta plays. Monta plays 34.3 minutes per a game, and Kevin plays 35.5 minutes per a game. I'm not just choosing him because I'm a Warriors fan but still the way Monta has played behind Baron and Stpehon has really helped out the Warriors. Knowing that they have a good bench to use when players like Jackson and Davis go out. Thoguh Monta still stats games just for the games he doesn't start they have a good bench to go to.
I'll go with Kevin Martin. Monta Ellis seems like on of those guards who will be unstopabble in a fast break style like Golden State has but good yet not as effective if he was in a half court type offense. Kevin Martin seems to be just as effective in both styles of play. Both are very versatile scorers. Go Warriors, you say that Monta Ellis has done a great job behind Baron and Stephen Jackson. Kevin Martin had to fill a void that Bonzi Wells left behind when he left the Kings and has done a succesful job of it. Kevin Martin has better handles. This comparison is very close but I'll stick with Martin due to him stepping up and taking over Wells void succesfully at such a young age. He's definetely my pick for MIP.
I'm a warriors fan but Kevin Martin is better at everything but defense, and defense isn't Ellis' calling card. Monta will be better in the future, and definitely shows more promise, but right now kevin martin is better.
Kevin Martin is a better all around player. Monta is quick, and is very good at getting to the basket, and he is a pretty good shooter, but Kevin Martin is a better shooter, better rebounder, and he is just as good of a defender if not better. I say Kevin Martin, but I think that if you give Monta Ellis two more years, he is going to better. This is only his second year out of high school...
Kevin Martin posts better numbers, but I'll have to go with Monta career wise. Kevin is better at the moment, but I see Monta being an all around, scoring, rebounding, passing, and defensive threat.

Kevin Martin has alot more size on him, and he is easily the better rebounder. Dont know where you came up with that one.

No question, what are you talking about? Both of these players are great so I don't know how you can say it's no question. Can you tell me how it's no question?
Its obvious Kevin Martin will win it since he has developed into an all-star caliber player. But I tihnk Monta should win it because he is scoring while not being the number 1 option on offense. He has Stephen Jackson, J-Rich, Baron Davis, and Al Harrington who they look to score 90% of the time. If Monta recieved more chances to score then he would win it.
yeah, it's pretty impressive monta can still score this much on a stacked team (by stacked I mean in terms of scoring options). Martin is better, but I would argue that he has improved less as he was already averaging 11 ppg last year. Also, Martin was the starter playing starter minutes from day one, whereas Monta earned it with his play, so Ellis was more of a surprise. Kevin Martin has started all 76 games he's played, whereas Monta has started only 49/73 games.

If you can be unstoppable in the fastbreak, you should be pretty damn good at getting to the rim in a halfcourt offense, and that's often what Ellis does.

He's the 7th best finisher on the fast break on the team, he gets his points from crazy drives where everybody knows he's going right and he still goes right and scores because he's so quick.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Both are very versatile scorers.
