I've lived in SF & Marin for most of the last 25 years. Trust me, the Warriors have had their die hards throughout the Bay Area forever... they won a championship just a couple years before ours so the fire had been lit. Of course winning recently brought on a whole lot of new fans in the NorCal surrounding area, which includes 10+million more likely customers then just the Bay Area.

The State of Ohio has 2.5 times as many people as Oregon and the same amount of pro basketball teams. Restating a previous post, there are more Portlander's with Cleveland roots then vice versa. The City of Portland has a lot going for it and while we all love it we can also recognize the obvious reasons why it wouldn't be the favored child of the league. Numbers and business, nothing personal.

Random question, but are you the LayneStaley that posts on oakland raiders forums?

I've got mixed feelings. Yes, it's good to fly under the radar but it's also nice to hear recognition of our accomplishments.

Didn't they win two championships before we won ours? I seem to recall one championship with Al Attles at coach.

When I lived in St. Louis, the guys in my office used to talk about all the people who worked at our company who moved from the Pacific North West who all moved back to the Pacific North West. They can add my name to their list.

Win the title. We'll get plenty of attention.

I honestly think we'd have to win multiple titles to get attention. One title would make the media spotlight last about as long as the parade.

Talk about an overrated dunk. There was no one in front of him. It's like going crazy over a wide open 3 pointer in the first quarter.

A lot of that was because of "The Decision". Which is kind of the same thing Lebron is doing tooting his own horn posting his dunk, followed by a dozen hashtags about how awesome he is. It's very off-putting.

I don't know about that. Remember how the media fell in love with the Kings back around 1998-99, when they had Chris Webber, Vlade, Stojakovic, and Jason Williams? It wasn't about the geography. Nobody is thrilled by Sacramento as a town. The Kings were just a really fun team to watch and the league got excited about them. I think that if the Blazers want to establish some of the nationwide attention, they need to get some of that excitement going. Getting a wing who could really get out on the break with Dame and CJ might do it. We need some high-flying fun to add to the artistry of Dame and CJ's shooting.

Yes. I also remember how they got royally fucked in the playoffs against the Lakers. Why there wasn't an investigation into that crooked shit I just don't know.

Thank you! Nurk wasn't even really contesting. This just shows how few dunks there are now compared to the 80s and 90s. The league has shifted towards three point shooting, so the days of super athletic dudes like Kersey just throwing themselves at the rim are over.

That dunk was worth two points. So was the layup LeBron missed at the end of the game.

I’d say the missed layup had more to do with the outcome of the game than the dunk did.

There was no one in front of him. He had a clear lane to the basket, and a running start. Nurk got over late and had no chance to even contest. Lebron could have done that in an empty gym, and no doubt does. It looked like something at first from the side camera, as if he dunked over Nurk. But he didn't. In reality it's much ado about nothing.

I would move to Vegas tomorrow if my Blazers and Raiders were both headed there.....but I really like PDX and I’m not sure any team means more to a city than the Blazers do to Portland.
