IMO Nelson lacks what it takes to become a good point guard in the NBA. Has okay passing skills but has not got good court vision at all to be a great passer 'well at least from what iv'e seen, his offense is kind of bad.. his shot selection is horrid and the only shots he makes are fluky and he relies on that too much, he is a pretty quik guard but his size damages his chances of finishing at the basket most of the time. Now im not saying there isn't a chance of him improving that stuff in the future because if he want's to be any good then he has to go out and improve in a lot of his area's in his game. what do you think ? because right now the magic would be better off with a different starting point guard.
I agree with you. I don't think he has good court vision or passing skills at all. I've seen the Magic play about a handful or so times this year, and he just isn't that good of a passer for a PG...His shot is pretty good, but inconsistent too. I agree, he's an average PG.Only averaging 4 assists this year.
Exactly, I've been saying this for the last year. Jameer Nelson is a good player but he's not a good NBA PG. So many members on BBW overrate this guy like crazy, it bothers the hell out of me. He was more of a scorer in college and all the scouts said he lacked the court vision and passing skills to be a good PG. It's all coming true right now.
Magic fans complain about Jameer the same way we complain about Delonte West in Boston (these two are good friends and teammates at St. Joseph's, by the way, how ironic). He's not a real point guard, he doesn't have point guard skills, he's a natural scorer. The difference between them is that Delonte can handle playing the 2 in the NBA, Jameer is too small. I do think that Jameer is more of a true point guard than Delonte, however. I still think Jameer will have a solid career, he will improve.
I agree with CB32 about Jameer Nelson, I really don't think he is going to become a bad point guard in the NBA. Sure he won't be your traditional playmaking point guard, but you really don't need that to be effective in the NBA these days. He does get the ball down court and iniate the offense for the Magic, then he goes into motion. Nelson is good offensively, can hit the spot up jumper, can get into the lane and drive to the rim. I like the way he plays not trying to control the ball to much, and allowing the ball to get moved around.

He doesn't force the issue and try to be the floor general that he's not. He moves the ball around and let's everybody play to their strengths, rather than Jameer playing to his weaknesses himself.
