    Big picture I agree......
but Dame and CJ having off nights had something to do with Houston's strategy of trying to trap them and take the ball out of their hands as much as pissible. At least they made it difficult for them to go around the screen. Much better than out D.
We let Harden turn the corner unimpeded many times or switched a big man onto him then didn't recognize the need for help. Not a good game plan, that's on the coaches, but could be them not wanting to show their cards before the playoffs .

Usual BS from refs, touch fouls for Harden, not for us.

WAY too many missed opportunities and dumb turnovers to beat that team. We can beat them when it matters by making everyone else shoot besides Harden and CP3. They don't scare me.

Houston should be worried about San Antonio being in the 8th spot. Nobody wants that draw regardless of injuries.

I think we need to look at this game and use it as a learning experience. Did CJ and Lillard just have an off night, or was Houston doing something that we need to adjust to?

Obviously this game did not mean EVERYTHING. It's just one game.

It means we are who we thought we were. Computers said we had a 42% chance of winning the game last night, and that seems just about right. Some folks came up big, some didn't. Some were distracted, some weren't. Given our average game and their average game, we have around a 40% chance of winning a game from them. That's not bad! That's actually really pretty good all told.

We went up in the power rankings on the FiveThirtyEight leaderboards, which is updated after every game result, because we played the way we were expected to, while others lost. We're the third best team in the west, by pretty much every measure. We're probably going to win 50 games. It sucks that both of the two best teams are in the West, which means we can't really get past the second round without beating one, but on the whole I still feel good about our team, and great about what they've done so far.

This loss means Houston is our toughest match up in the NBA. I don't think that shocking to a lot of people. Harden and CP3 have always give this squad fits, when they joined up it was a worse match up for the Blazers than Golden State.

I'm heartened that it was close in a game that our guards were mediocre. This will be a useful game if we run into them in the playoffs.

If Dame and CJ contributed more than ZERO from the 3pt line, and Houston didn't shoot insanely above their average, this is a Portland win.

Part of me was somewhat glad to see a loss here as it gives the team motivation as to what they can do better next time. Does anyone remember what the outcome was at the Houston regular seasons games the year we beat them in the playoffs?

Well no. I feel like I’m always making comments about the lame ref blaming. It isn’t a good look

This is what happens when Portland Public Schools have a late opening day. Your mommy and daddy let you stay up way past your bed time, talking shit on the internet. No wonder you’re flunking out......

Yeah, it means one loss. That's all. If someone wants to use it as a barometer it was apparent we competed very well with the best team in the NBA on a night our two big stars struggled. It was a fun game and very competitive and now we move on to the next game.

Are you sure? Because based on your argument they should have struggled against Houston in the other match ups.

    Explain this boxscore:

Probably best to let this trolls thread die a slow death and not respond so it disappears.

On a side note, I swore there was a bunch on here saying that CP3 and Harden couldn’t play together and this experiment would fail....... I believe I said they would be damn good, but they have impressed me as to how well they play off each other. Don’t see 2 players that need the ball in their hands flow the way they do.

They play a lot of iso ball though and if either Harden or Paul are off or get hurt, Houston could be in trouble and Paul has a history of getting hurt in the playoffs.
