If the supervolcano blows in 2018, let's all make sure to tell our descendents that the Blazers won the last NBA championship before all records of North American life were destroyed by the dread god. Let's make sure it's in the cave paintings and folklore.

It won't help. That would be like an ant trying to push over an elephant. The pressure relief would be so insignificant that it would be virtually zero help.
Think about it, even a normal volcano would be too much pressure to relieve and here we're talking about a Super Volcano. Just for reference, a Super Volcano has about one million times as much magma as a typical volcano. Now, the Yellowstone Super Volcano is larger than the other Super Volcanoes. I don't see any way of relieving any significant pressure for say, oh, I dunno, a million years? We need a whole lot more technology than we have now. How much is a whole lot more? Again, I dunno, but I know it's a whole lot more than we have now. In the meantime, should we tap it for free or nearly free energy? Damn straight, we should. Just don't ruin the park, so, let the Super Volcano do that.
