What impresses me so much about these kids is they aren’t taking the defeatist point of view you do. They know most can’t vote yet and they don’t have the resources th NRA has, but they are forcing the issue regardless. It may work, it may not, but at least they have a chance at change. They got a major Republican donor this week to pledge to not give any of his hundreds of millions that he gives every election cycle to candidates that aren’t supporting real gun reform measures. And that donor put together a group of other donors to join him. So, the kids are taking the money incentives out of the Republican/NRA partnership. This might just be a drop in the money bucket but it is something and one thing can inspire other things. The NRA is losing a ton of support from corporate America right now and after the next shooting, and the one after that, and the one after that this could actually snowball into real change. Does any single one of those kids matter regarding policy, no. But together they have a voice.
Well considering I am a citizen in this country, a working one at that, yes I do have a say regardless if I vote or not
Right but you have to know how the system really works. A lot of people that control this country and they aren't people you have a say in their positions. They just happen to have billions of dollars and interests. We are talking families that have been around and wealthy for decades. There are reasons we have been in the middle east for 17 years. Other interests at hand
There is a reason both Trump and Obama have funded Saudi Arabia billions in weapons deals. Think bigger here.
Those families have massive power because of their money. The one real big power that you and I have to fight is our vote. Well, our voice and our vote. Our voice to inspire others to join in how we vote. And those families are not all one lockstep group. One is overly concerned with coal, another airliners, another xxxxxxx. The fight isn’t easy. But it’s winnable. Just look at the Civil Rights movement.
I don't have a say even if I am working citizen and pay taxes? that makes zero sense. I didn't like Trump or Hillary. I wasn't gonna go vote for Johnson like others did just to vote knowing there was no way he would win.
Yes, I’m fact there are many reasons. For example wanting influence over the Middle East. Wanting to make sure we have an alliance that can keep the entire region from upending. They could be right pr wrong, it’s way too complicated for me to really know, but there are reasons to be there that extend beyond the DuPont family wanting more money.
These families value their pocketbook. Voices and votes can be used to influence them to join your side of a debate.
I think it's ridiculous you think I don't have a say because I simply don't vote but hey that's your opinion
I use my vote. Since you don't vote, and you think voices matter more (but not those kids voices, their brains aren't fully developed), I was just wondering what you use your voice for. barfo
These families value their pocketbook. Voices and votes can be used to influence them to join your side of a debate. By the way @Cippy91 I think you are dead wrong about voting and I hope to convince you of that over time. However, I also completely understand that feeling and I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t felt the same way. But time and experience have cemented in me the belief that voting can be impactful and that we (you and I) have power in aggregate so immense that even the Rothschilds and Bushes have to bend lest they break.
Right, do we need to talk how many thousands of innocents this country kills or gets others killed with those weapons? or how about operation fast and furious? the list goes on. That's okay though because Murica!
Lee Harvey Oswald and John Wilkes Booth both had lasting says in our government without voting. Dream big.
Barfo, it's honestly tough to try and have a conversation with you because all you are doing is looking to argue and this goes to the past we have. I know what you are doing. I don't want to speak to you. You twist peoples words, then poke and prod. I hope you know you add nothing productive to the conversation. You obviously haven't gone back and read everything I had to say about the kids, you cherry pick. I use my voice like everybody else would if they had an issue. It's not hard to understand. Keep up
