Mike and Mike NEVER said: "Sets his tootsies" "To the cup" " Snuggles it in" He also sounds like he smoked 3 packs a day.
I only recall hearing him mention it when he got to 56 and not beyond. Not saying he didn't mention it after 56 just saying I don't recall it.
Actually, I was paying attention to it, and I don't remember him saying anything when he hit it... but when he went to the line afterwards for the 59th and 60th makes, he mentioned it.
I don't even recall that. Admittedly I was pretty engrossed in a very important and extremely close game.
I'll watch the replay, but I'm pretty sure he mentioned it before, not during, and mentioned it when he was going to extend it.
Shit, I loved Rice, but he was CONSTANTLY mispronouncing players' names. It was so bad at times it almost seemed intentional, or at least like he didn't really give a fuck. Kind of reminds me of back in the day when Lou Boudreau used to do the radio broadcasts for the Cubs. He spent and entire season mispronouncing Ivan DeJesus' name - his own team's starting shortstop. BNM
It's amazing how winning and playing well cures a lot of things. Broadcasters included. Now that we see Calabro and Hurd in their groove, I'm on board. Calabro's excitement is contagious like Wheels. I can't say Barrett had the same effect. I do miss Rice for his levity.
You must have loved Barrett's "And it's out of bounds Portland ba........NOOOOO they say Houston ball WOOOOOW" That got annoying hearing him play referee and then being shocked when he was wrong
Gotta say that Calabro and Hurd are growing on me. Nice to see Calabro getting more animated and into it the longer he’s with the team. I used to wonder if he was on Valium or something. Oddly, I even find them far more easy to ignore than M&M over the course of the game, which allows me to give more focus to the game. But the one thing Calabro does that just drives me absolutely crazy (I have a low threshold) is when he refers to the basket as “the cup”. Gawd I hate that! This is basketball, not golf.......
I agree with the OP, that Calabro routinely says things that show he isn't paying attention to the game. Reporting the wrong call, naming the wrong player involved . . . . I really don't recall MB making remotely as many mistakes. Calabro is fine, but this is clearly one weak spot. The part that bugs me is that he clearly wasn't watching the game and it usually happens when he is trying to be clever over doing his job.
I haven't heard anyone substitute cup for basket. Occasionally I hear the word hoop or bucket but never cup. That would be dumb.
