What do you guys think about the pick that Kings made by selecting Spencer Hawes? Your thoughts?

I personally think that they made a mistake and believe that Hawes is not worth the 10th pick. (he shoud have been picked late first round from 25 to 30)
Also they could have packed the pick with either Bibby or Miller (or both) and trade them. I'm not sure I understand what Petrie is doing anymore.

He just screams bust to me.
I think they should have thought Nick Young or Thaddeus Young to pair along with Kevin Martin.

I thought he wouldn't go past Minnesota, I like the pick honestly. I wonder how Theus plans to use him though.
A lot of Bulls fans are disappointed Pax passed him up for Noah. Which of those two would you prefer to have on your team?

Also ranked fourth in the Pac-10 Conference in field goal percentage (.532) and third in blocked shots (54). Set school record for most points scored by a freshman with 461. Named to the conference's Freshman Team and was an honorable mention for All-Pac-10. Scored a career-high 24 points in a double-overtime loss at Southern California. Father, Jeff, and uncle, Steve, both played for Washington. Uncle also played for five NBA teams over 10 seasons.
LIKELY DRAFT POSITION: 8-16.
COMPARATIVE UPSIDE: Eddy Curry
COMPARATIVE DOWNSIDE: Joel Przybilla
ROLE PROJECTION: Offensive-minded center. May not be immediately in the rotation but eventually will work his way in.
POSITIVES: Hawes is one of the few scoring centers to come around in the last few years. He has soft hands and a good touch around the basket and shows signs of being someone who can make double-teams pay with good kick-out passes. He has true center size and knows how to score with his back to the basket. He has a lot of upside, because his body is still developing and he will eventually gain more strength, advancing his success around the hoop.
SHORTCOMINGS: Hawes just turned 19 and looks it. But beyond the baby face, he has a soft body and isn't the greatest athlete. Hawes will naturally get stronger as he matures, but he'll have to make a commitment to always being in great shape, because that's the only way for him to succeed in an athletic league. Hawes isn't nearly ready to compete in the NBA trenches for rebounds with muscular veterans.

If he's as good as Curry, you scored. if he's as good as Przybilla, he's a quite decent role player.

For the Mavs, I guess I'd takeNoah too, even though I don't like him.

The problem is that we need a PF or C who can actually play defense and I don't see Hawes helping us in that regard in the near future. Hopefully he proves us wrong.

Hopefully he proves us wrong.

Bulls won 47 games and were like #2 in team defense with Curry at C. While he's not known for being a defensive minded player, just having a big guy in the paint does discourage teams from driving as much so they take lower percentage shots.
In the end, it may turn out that he outperforms his counterpart at C, which is a good thing.
It could be he's Brad Miller reincarnated, too.
