Yep. He was looking/wanting that. There was NO WAY Boston was ever going to pay him that. They've been very judicious with their money. Letting some FA walk who have too high an offer (Turner) and actively trading players who make it public that they are wanting a cash day (Bradley & IT).
Speaking of which, I heard Calabro and Hurd say you're the self proclaimed Ed Davis of the production crew.... I'm like... C'mon now bruh...
A problem with him getting a reasonable deal somewhere is that the bottom teams won’t be willing to take a player who could potentially win them game with his offense where they are preparing themselves for another year of tanking - that goes for the likes of Chicago, Atlanta and Dallas. None of the playoffs teams would start him currently simply because he is nowhere near good enough and he wouldn’t be willing to accept this either. That leaves Knicks, Magic and Suns and one of them will end up taking him.
I predict it will be ORL. The Knicks aren't as stupid as the used to be and PHO seems to be taking a longer view with building around youth. IT doesn't fit in with that strategy. ORL seems to be intent on stealing the title of most stupidly run team in the league from SAC. Some (all) of the moves they've made the past two years have been real head scratchers. BNM
I mentioned Suns and Knicks because both will also need to find a new point guard. Suns can actually re-sign Elfrid Payton who has been decent for them and Knicks can develop Musial and Ntilikina but both are far from ready to contribute on a winning team. Orlando are the best bet I agree. They are a bit stupid so might even offer him an inflated deal. There is a chance though that they will land Trae Young in the draft and if that happens, they might prefer to develop him rather than bring IT. For MLE signing I could actually see him go to Indiana, New Orleans or Detroit. Not sure if all of them will have the MLE available but IT would work as an impact off the bench player at any of them. Collison, Holiday and probably even Jackson are all better than him but two or maybe even all of them could play at the 2 and even if they couldn’t, there will be minutes to distribute outside of the first team.
What if no team wants him. Watching him play is hard to do when he misses the ocean or shows off what he can't do.
Someone will take a chance. A year ago he averaged 28.9 ppg and lead the league in 4th quarter scoring as the number 1 option on the first seed in the Eastern Conference and was in the conversation for MVP. As his price drops, so does the risk. Some GM will eventually say fuck it and offer him a fire sale contract. Of course, he may also say fuck that shit and take his services to Europe or China, whoever is willing to offer him the most money. BNM
