to earn a bit extra I signed up about a month ago. I still have my regular 40h/week job so Uber is just an extra boost. So far pretty decent. Ive made between $450-$600 each week so far or about $24/h before gas and stuff. Not going to get rich driving, but if I can earn an extra $25K a year that would really help in expensive CA.

    Anyone else drive for Uber/Lyft?

I signed up to drive lyft too but haven’t done it yet. There are some good incentives to sticking with one or the other.

The problem with Uber, as I see it, is that they don't have to follow all the regulations or procure all the permits that traditional taxi cabs have to do. For example, they don't have to pick up handicapped people nor do they have to procure a permit to pick up passengers at the Portland airport. Now, I could be wrong so if I am I would appreciate reading it.

I'd need a new car as mine is too old and crappy to qualify. Not sure if it'd be worth getting a new car just to do Lyft/Uber?

Why would that be a problem? Do you think they would reject a fair from a lady with a bum leg?

We are required to pick up who we are capable of picking up, someone with a walker for example, but we don’t have to pick up someone with an electric scooter. We have to pick up people with service animals even if we are allergic or the animals are dirty. We have to have correct signage/permits for some airports and not others, that’s up to the airport and city. I’m san Francisco I need my permit for SFO but not for Oakland.

As far as Taxi’s are concerned, they still exist but be ready to pay much more. I took a Uber from Seattle airport to my brothers house for $28, the time before I did a Taxi for $75.

    As far asl

Uber will pay for your new car as long as you drive some specific number of hours a week.

But I bought a 2014 Jetta with 30,000 miles on it in great condition for $10,400 just to use for Uber. Fake leather seats so it’s easy to clean. My monthly payment is about $215 which I make in about 9 hours of driving. So one 12 hour day pays for my car and insurance for the month.

Next weekend I’m going to drive in San Francisco during peak hours which should end up paying me closer to $40-50/ hour.

If anyone decides to sign up to drive Uber please let me know. If you use my referral code I’ll make $500 before taxes. I’d certainly kick you back some money.

Took a cab from airport to my house a couple of years ago. That piece of crap Charger was the scariest car I've ridden in for a long time.

You pay your own taxes for Uber, youget%100 if you money then it’s up to you.

If you are interested get a move on, they need to do background checks on you and approve the car and insurance

Love Uber/Lyft...... landing at JFK and getting to my hotel in Manhattan used to be a bitch! Waiting in those taxi lines. Now it is fantastic. Started using Lyft last summer only because it is synced to my Delta account and I get miles for my trips. Best Uber ride I've ever had was in Rio. Riding around with the drivers with their families all crammed in a tiny car dodging donkeys! Best time ever! Looks like The HCP has a 4.91 rating!

Also, I looked into being a driver in the summer when I have tons of time off, but they said my car was too old.

So far it’s been pretty fun. I’ve driven a couple hundred rides with only one really bad one.

But I met some cool restaurant owners who tipped me by calling in an order of steak fajitas for me when I dropped them off at their restaurant.

Also drove two old leathered up gay dudes who were half drunk and hilarious. Drove a teenager whose mom gave me an extra $10 to tell her son “Call your FUCKING mom or I won’t let you out”

All in all some funny people.
