<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>"I probably (would have played), but since we were in the hunt for a high draft pick, of course things are different," Gomes said. "I understand that. Hopefully things get better. Now that we clinched at least having the second-most balls in the lottery, the last three games we'll see what happens. We'll see if we can go out and finish some games."</div>
You just don't f*cking say that. Gomes just said loud and clear "We have been tanking."

Oh yeah, Doc's golden comments as well, on clinching the 2nd worst record:

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>"Well, we earned it, I can tell ya that. We earned it, and now we can move on. Memphis earned the 1 spot, Milwaukee's earned the 3 spot."</div>
Now we can just move on. That's great Doc, that's just dandy. Why don't you and your players go along announcing to the world that your tank job is finally complete.

These two quotes are leaked all over the internet on multiple sites (such as CelticsBlog.com, NBA.com, RealGM.com, and Yahoo.com). Soon enough, we'll have to hear scrubs like Jay Mariotte on Around the Horn, or Jim "I don't know a f*cking thing about sports" Rome... just completely rip us, like they did 2 weeks ago and this past week. All this negative attention, all these ridiculously horrible comments by Celtics personnel.

The basketball gods always come back to haunt you (sounds corny, and I know half of BBW will say it's just CB32 overreacting again, but it's the truth... and 1997 is a prime example), and I am not happy about this at all. I am actually pretty furious right now.

one on hand you applaud them for admitting what they were doing, rather than pretending they were 'evaluating young players' or any other bullsh** excuse.on the other hand, it's tactless to talk about such a negative thing and it could/ will most likely alienate some fans.I still can't believe how Memphis and Milwaukee are basically getting free passes on their tank jobs and the C's are getting ridiculed...hypocritical is what that is.

Exactly. Radio and TV will continue to talk about us tanking, but they will never talk about how Mo Williams suddenly dissapeared from the lineup tonight... or how on April 3rd Redd/Williams/Skinner played but they didn't play on April 4th against us... then were back in the lineup after that game. They'll never mention that, but because we are the bigger market, they'll trash us and us only. It's completely ridiculous.

Memphis arent tanking...if we were, why is our best, but slowed by injury, player still playing? Rudy had a nasty sprain and theres no point bringing Mike Miller back...I dont think they're serious though(the Boston people I mean)

<span style="font-family:Arial">I don't think that comment should have been made, it's pretty stupid to go public with something like that. With that being said, I don't think it's anything to get real mad about either. Everybody already assumed the Celtics were tanking anyway, it's not that big of a deal.</span>

CelticsBalla you have to be pretty naieve to get pissed off at that comment. Atleast Gomes is speaking his mind. Also, the C's pretty much have the #2 pick locked up anyway. If the ping pong balls fall are way. I mean, if you're going to get pissed at Gomes you shouold get pissed at Doc. A few weeks back when the Celts lost to the Bobcats he said what do I gain for winning this game? That's pretty much saying the same thing.

Yes, I was pissed about the Charlotte game when Doc said it. Hell, I was at the game. I'm mad at Doc's comment last night too, saying "It's over" and "We earned it." But Gomes most certainly shouldn't have said that, WTJ. I absolutely love Gomes, and he is a smart guy, but this was a dumb thing to say. Sure, I like when players speak their mind, but you just don't say this, especially after the players (including Gomes) openly complained about reporters and TV giving us negative attention that we didn't deserve. Then he counters that complaint by telling reporters after a game that "I would have played if we weren't in the hunt for a lottery pick." That's ridiculous.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Also, the C's pretty much have the #2 pick locked up anyway. If the ping pong balls fall are way.</div>
You do realize that we have a less than 50% chance of getting a top 2 pick, right? I hate to be negative about it, but the lottery can be great but it can also be absolutely DEVASTATING like it was to us in 1997. I obviously am hoping we get that top 2 pick, but "don't count your chickens before they hatch."

It's one thing for the media to assume we were tanking (which we have been for the past week and a half), but it's another for the coach and a player to come out and say it. It's just wrong, it's stupid.

IMO, they havent been tanking. If its the end of season, like always(if you have won 60 games or 15 games), unless your fighting for a certain playoff position, your not going to risk your good players for some meaningless games...you can tell when a team is tanking..and I dont see how the Cs or Griz are tanking. Or Philly for that matter.

Can't the league do something if a team actually says it's been tanking. Now I know it looks away but when it's said out like that. You have to think the league will do something. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>IMO, they havent been tanking. Low tier teams should be taking advantage during this time and getting some wins under their belt and not go out losers for the season. It's sad if your telling me Grizz, Celts should rest their players who led their team to the record they are at against team's 2nd and 3rd stringers.

If you don't think the Celtics have tanked the past week and a half, then you haven't watched the Celtics once in the past week and a half. Pierce, sure, it's understandable that he's sitting. But Al Jefferson? Come on, he's not that hurt. Delonte looked fine last night, in his return. And it's not even about the players on the floor, it's how Doc keeps our best ones (Gomes, Rondo) off the floor in crunch time and puts in Sebastian Telfair, Leon Powe, and Kevinn Pinkney. That is clearly tanking. How can you say they aren't, with that in mind, plus the fact that Gomes and Doc just said it loud and clear?

The Grizzlies... yes. There is absolutely no reason that team should be the worst in the league after getting the 5th seed last year. I know they lost Battier, who is a very good basketball player, and I know Eddie and Wright are gone too. But there is absolutely no reason for that team to be where they are. My thoughts: they have been tanking to assure Durant or Oden to give Pau Gasol a reason to stay.

Milwaukee has pulled the most obvious and most ridiculous tank jobs of any other team. On April 3rd, Michael Redd, Mo Williams, and Brian Skinner all played and Redd even scored over 25 points. The next night, against us, ALL THREE OF THEM SAT OUT, and they diagnosed Redd and Williams with the same "injury." Redd, Williams, Skinner sat their next game against Atlanta too, thinking they could run away with an loss against another bad team. Redd and Williams both played the next game.. then Redd shut it down. And Mo Williams played on Wednesday but miraculously sat out against us last night.

Minnesota is tanking right now, because if they get a pick in the top 10, they keep it. If it's not in the top 10, it goes to the Clippers. So, they've sat KG down for the rest of the season, nobody knew exactly what the "injury" was. Another clear tank job.

Philly clearly isn't tanking, they are playing hard every night, they are trying to win, and they have been a .500 team since the Iverson trade. I respect that 100%.

Why would you risk a serious injury to your better players if your not going to do anything anyways? If we were tanking..would Pau Gasol be out? Rudy Gay and MIke Miller both got bad in-game injuries. Thats why they're out. Memphis has never tanked all year..the Memphis staf wouldnt let it happen(for example, last season we couldve tanked to play the Nuggs instead of the Mavs...we didnt tank, and even though we got swept, we had more dignity than the Clipps who did tank). Theres been like 20 games decided by one possesion, and 8 more decided by 2 possessions for thr Griz this season. he Griz play their guts out everynight(theres nights where you question their effort for the game though). But you look at last season, the season before that and so on....we, and no other team(winning or losing record) hardly ever plays there best players in the last 5 games....unless of course your fighting for the certain spot.If you want to know why we are so much worse than last season...look-up the definition"glue-player", and apply that to Battier and Memphis...and read my blog...which explains everything. Memphis isnt throwing its best players out there...but its not because we're tanking.Actually, Memphis should be trying to win more, cause hisotry shows the worst team doesn't get the 1st pick in draft...
