Does this piss anyone else off as much as it pisses me off?

This makes me puke, people pay a lot of money to sit and watch their team play....and now winning the game late this season has become secondary because of ping pong balls. Everything I thought about sports and the NBA were about has been trashed in the past week. I used to remember the Bucks playing spoiler and going at teams at the end of the year when they were out of it....now it seems to be a competition on how few players you get to suit up for the game. It really makes me f*cking puke, and the worst part is...seeing so many BBW members saying it isn't a big deal....and even Ryan Gomes, isn't this guy supposed to be a warrior and a guy who gives 100%....look at what he's been reduced to....sitting on the bench so Boston management can land a jackpot player in the draft. It is truely ALL about the money. After what's been going on in Milwaukee and Boston, neither team deserves a top pick, it makes me sick to think that thousands of fans went to see a game the team didn't try 100% to win. I hope the ping pong balls go to teams that gave a damn down the stretch. And people wonder why nobody respects the NBA in the media.

Excellent post, and very true, but you can't say "neither Boston or Milwaukee deserves the pick." It's not just these 2 teams that are tanking. It happens every year, most teams that do in fact end up with a top 2-3 pick did tank. It's just the way it is. It's sad, it sucks, but there is nothing we can do about it unless Stern changes the way the lottery works some how (which I think he should strongly look into).

I've never witnessed the Bucks 'tank' before these last couple weeks. That's what has me pissed more than anything. I don't know how much teams have tanked in the past seasons....but this is really pissing me off as a Bucks fan. Herb Kohl is clearly doing this so gets a prize in the draft so he can get a better offer when he sells the team.

This may be your first experience with the Bucks tanking, which may be the reason why you feel as strong about it as I do. But it happens every single year, my friend. I'm sorry to say it, and it sucks that it happens, but it happens every single year. At least 2 or 3 teams every year. This year, it's about 5.

I find it kinda naive to be pissed at the worst teams for tanking. especially this year.there are TWO franchise players available. The kind that can lead to a 20+ game turn around for your franchise. The Cavs' tanked the Year Lebron came out, ask their fans if they regret having to suck it up and suffer through that for the tail end of a dismal year.If Andrew Bogut was gonna be the prize, then yeah, tanking wouldn't make sense because he wasn't a sure thing.this year, there are 2 sure things. This year, it's the smart thing to do.

theyve played like that all year...this is just one of those rare times the opposing team plays worse defense than us. We're not tanking...past tells the worst team gets screwed over. Jerry West and Barone will never allow tanking. Its uncharacteristic of Jerry West especially...

Wow, stupid move by Gomes. It is an insult to the fans of the Celtics that they have been tanking this entire year and have said it loud and clear.

Hopefully the NBA does something about the Celtics being stupid enough to come out about tanking.

LMAO no we haven't been tanking the entire year. We have been tanking the last week and a half, that's it.

Well of course they didn't start tanking from the beggining. They had playoff hopes, however when those hopes went away and after thaht 17 game losing streak I'm sure their minds were mostly on getting a lottery balls.

that 18 game losing streak was due to injuries. You lose your superstar player for 25 games and have a super-young team, this happens.once other players started going down, well you have to face the facts and I think the Celtics did.as for admitting to it, well it's 6 of one, half dozen of the other. At least they're not pretending that they aren't tanking when it is so obvious.when you really have nothing to play for this year, and have 2 studs coming into the draft, what's the big deal? Any fan who can think about the big picture will see that it's the right move with a month left to go in the season.

?The players weren?t thinking about the lottery and all that,? said Ryan Gomes, ?but reality is reality. Now that our position in the lottery is set, hopefully we can go out and win some games. ?Things could change now, but another thing you?ve got to think of is that he (Rivers) was doing that for a reason. It could be for that reason (lottery position) or it could be for getting the younger guys some playing time or seeing who?s going to be here next year. There?s a lot of things that go into that.? he covers up lol

I love Ryan Gomes. He's our most consistent player, he is a smart guy, and he works hard. With that said, he should only be allowed to talk to the media if we are .500 or above.

This comment is being blown out of porportion. Nobody in the mass media cares about this. It's not like the NBA is coming down on Gomes/Boston for saying it. It was a dumb comment, it's a true comment, it's really not that big of a deal.

yeah they were talking about tanking on sportscenter and all they said was that it is a big dilemma in the league..didn't really put any blame on anybody or mention Gomes' comments..it's not like it's getting mass media coverage and it wasn't as bad as we all think

But the fact is, I don't care how the media blows it up (or doesn't blow it up). At the end of the day, you just don't say things like that. No other team is dumb enough to do it, but of course we are. I think that if Michael Redd and Larry Krystowiak (sp?) said it, you'd all be jumping on them and saying what pieces of sh*t they are. You'd be saying they don't deserve a top pick and they are losers. But just because our precious player said it, some of you guys are brushing it off like it's nothing. I don't agree with that, I don't care if Pierce, Gomes, or friggen Kevinn Pinkney says it. It's wrong, it was totally uncalled for, and tanking is a problem the league needs to address.

I f*cking hate the overall topic of tanking. All of these teams in the lottery have injuries and are all playing they're young/role players so the better players won't get injured. I guess it's tanking but in reality it's just being smart for protecting you're players so they don't have a Tony Allen injury in the 4th quarter of 109-75 blow out against the Atlanta Hawks. Tanking would be starting Telfair at center, Perkins at point guard, Scal at PF, Olowokandi at SG, and Powe at SF.

Exactly, if Memphis had the same rotations and same issues as a .500 team...nobody would call it tanking. Its idiotic to play a injured player(especially if they're a good player) when you have 5 games left in the season, and your not pushing for the playoffs. Why would you risk hurting a player in a meaningless game? And if you do, it might start all over again, as far as a bad season.
