Are you kidding me? That's the worst buffet I've ever had. It used to be good maybe 20 or more years ago. You're the first person to describe their buffet as good.

However, the lounge has a stunning view of the ocean.

We haven't been there in like 15 or 20 years but everyone we know, and it's a few, who've been there agrees that it's just not worth eating there.

Spirit Mountain is much better and it's not all that great.

I like Gearhart for the beach and Seaside for restaurants and entertainment. My brother and I always went up to Camp Rilea in Warrenton and then we'd eat at a little restaurant in Warrenton that was good, Can't remember the name, though.

Canon Beach was fun when I was a little boy 'cause I could climb all over the rocks, harass star fish and kill mussels. I was a typical little boy who liked to harass the critters.

Lincoln City used to be part of the 20 Miracle Miles.

Go to Gearhart if you want to dig razor clams and just north of Tillamook if you want to dig mud clams with your garden tools.

When I was younger I used to go clamming when we would stay at fort stevens state park. The Iredale shipwreck is fascinating and so is battery russell. Seaside is great for the entertainment aspect, I would sink hours at the arcade every summer. A lot of great beaches on the coast, seems like each offer their own little thing

Any buffet can be decent if they use good quality food and keep it hot and fresh.

When the M casino buffet opened it was amazing. Went back a year or two later and it was terrible. Same menu but just bad. The Kalbi ribs that were once excellent you could barely chew.

They started getting bad reviews and it seemed like they stepped their game back up last time we went. Not as good as when it opened but pretty damn good.

I grew up spending a great deal of time in Lincoln City (my grandparents retired there when it was still three separate cities) and Pacific City. I hated LC as a kid and I’m not much fonder of it now. Twenty Miserable Miles that needed a bypass 50 years ago (before the outlet mall and the casino) and needs one now even more so. It just boggles my mind on how much of a bitch it is to get from one end to the other. It has great beaches but access leaves something to be desired. My late uncle was a successful businessman in LC for almost 50 years and used to be on the casino’s “Wall of Fame” for all his winnings. His total was impressive.......until one realized he still hadn’t won anywhere near what he had spent......

Pacific City is more my speed. It used to be one of the best kept secrets on the coast, especially once they banned the dune buggies in the late 60’s. Despite being off the beaten path, it’s getting more crowded every year. But it’s still funky (and less crowded than most places) and the tourists usually congregate at the Cape and the Pelican Brewpub. I go down at least monthly to run the dog and then hang out at the Sportsman Pub. I hate giving away my secrets but..... Sporty’s at the 4 way stop in PC is one of the greatest dive bars in Oregon (if not the West Coast.). The food is outstanding (fresh line caught ling cod fish and chips), portions generous and the prices amazingly reasonable. And it’s only recently that they upped their price of a good pint to $4.25. Mixed drinks are a bargain also. All that and the best part is that the vast majority of tourists avoid it like the plague based on appearance alone. Just the way the locals like it........it’s a great place to while away a few hours in relative peace.

And casino buffets are an acquired taste. I have yet to find one worth the price......

As a kid in the 60's I spent a lot of time at Lincoln City as my great grandmother had a house there and we would go down many weekends during the summer. That was way before Lincoln City became a tourist attraction and became a much bigger city like it is today. It was a nice small coastal town. Use to walk from her place to a swimming hole on the D River where Hwy 101 crossed over the river, The ocean was a 10 minute walk one way and D Lake a 5 minute walk the other way from where she lived as she lived on the hill right above the main part of downtown. That was when the big eating places were Lil Black Sambos and The Pixie Kitchen and The Surftides was the premier ocean front hotel.

My parents inherited a house in Pacific City well before the city became a tourist haven. The house we owned was next door to Ramblin Rod's brothers place and two houses down from there Ramblin Rod had a place. My dad and I use to drive right on to the beach and watch the dory boats launch and come in.
