I've been a Stotts fan for years, but the close out of this year after the 13 game winning streak has completely convinced me that we need a change. I don't have a long winded speech, or a lot of stats, and I am not terribly upset about losing, but I am extremely disappointed about how we are losing. Who are some good options of replacements for Stotts?

I'd wait until I see a playoff match up before I start calling for his head again.

We haven't been losing until we had injury issues so I am not sure how that is on Stotts.

Moe and Ed are essential to us winning consistently. Maybe sounds crazy, but true.

"Make decisions only when we're at the high points." That's why nothing ever changes. I skipped the last couple of games and watched half of this one tonight. This unchanging team bores many fans.

Yeah, I see him being safe for a bit, unless we get crushed by an inferior team with an inferior coach. If we lose to GSW or HOU (more talent), well, that sucks. If we lost to SAS (Pop) or OKC (Big 3) then them's the breaks. Even Thibodeau, if he has KAT and Butler and they play really well...

If we get housed by Quin Snyder, Alvin Gentry, or Mike Malone, this becomes a conversation.

We looked great when we had Mo and Ed.

There isn't anyone better thats available. Has a coach ever been fired this close to the playoffs when his team has made the playoffs? I don't think so.

For that one-fifth of a season, we were great enough to barely beat teams missing their Ed-and-Mo equivalents.

Strawman about timing. He didn't call for his firing today.

He’s not great but he isn’t bad. We don’t exactly have a stud roster, he is making due with what he has. Olshey’s seat should be hotter imho.

I should have been more clear, I don't want him gone right now, but after the playoffs we should seriously make it happen. We go on hot streaks like that 13 game winning streak, but out defense especially on the 3 recently has been absolutely abysmal. Any chance anyone can post the opposing teams 3pt % post 13 game winning streak?

Honestly I don't disagree with this too, Olshey needs to make something happen this summer or I would can him too. But I would fire Stotts at the end of the playoffs unless we make it to the WCF.

This "unchanging team" still has a better record than just about every team who made big changes last summer. I'm not saying Stotts should be safe but your whole argument can be proven wrong by the current seeding.

This should be merged with the Meltdown thread.

So we have to beat Rockets or Warriors for him to save his job? Huh?

Firing threads always detail into these sides.

    1. player effort
    2. coach
    3. GM (player quality)
    4. owner
    5. fans (high expectations or lack of decade-long-patience)

    I want to replace 2 and 3.

STILL 3rd seed in the West. Yes, losses are frustrating but coaches with the kind of season Stotts has had and GMs with Olshey's resume get extensions not fired.

I don't know.... dudes not good enough at adapting to uncomfortable situations... but most NBA coaches aren't good in my eyes. I don't see anyone better than available... tough spot.

Exactly. Stotts is a Top 5 candidate for coach of the year. There are like 23 teams with bigger problems than we got. We'll be fine. The Texas Road Trip was always going to be tough but without our full team, almost impossible.
