Just wondering what peple think about the Suns and this years draft? Hopefully they will have the 4th pick (from Atlanta). Should they draft a big guy? Noah maybe? I have my thoughts, but wanted to see what everyone else thinks.
I think they should take a big man. Really, its the only weakness they have..as far as big man depth. I think Joakim Noah would be a excellent pick for them. He could bring alotve energy and defense.

NO Noah. I don't see him being that good at all. IF the Suns get the pick, which they only have about a 63% chance to get, I would take Horford, definitely. It would be nice if they could maybe trade up with their other two picks to get Acie Law maybe.

He's one inch shorter and like you said, he's stronger, so size really isn't much of a factor. Besides, it's probably the hair that gives Noah that extra inch. I think that Horford will be a bit better than Noah in the NBA. He has a little more of an offensive game with his mid-range jumper so he'll fit in better and may actually get some playing time. He'll be our younger, more athletic Kurt Thomas.
I wouldnt be so confident that your going to get the pick.. Atlanta could easily get a #2 or 3 pick..

May 22nd is the lottery right?

It's a topic worth discussing.Plus if the Suns do get the 4th pick the Johnson deal will really have been a great one for Phoenix.
I'm not so sure Horford would fit in Phoenix. He's not best suited to be on a run-n-gun team. He's an excellent defensive player in the half-court set and he's not the type of guy who can run for days. I think Phoenix might look to trade the pick. If not, I do think Noah fits well with them, I really do. Noah is most certainly not a top 5 (or even 10) talent, but it just makes sense. Phoenix needs an athletic big man that can play defense, bring energy, and run the floor. That is Noah.

As long as he can hit the mid-range shot and has some offensive skill he will get the playing time. I'm pretty sure that the Suns said they won't trade the pick unless it's to take them higher in the draft so I don't see that happening. Noah has no offensive game. All he would do is clog the lane and limit Amare's room like Diaw does sometimes since he doesn't have much of a jumper. D'Antoni would give him less minutes than Horford, or no minutes at all.

He's best suited for a halfcourt game on both ends of the floor. He can't hit the mid-range jumper consistently, he's a post player, a banger, and an excellent defender (once again, in the halfcourt set). He's not a run and gun player, and I hope Phoenix doesn't take him.
We could use what he brings. It's not like we're running during the whole game. There's plenty of half-court plays and it would be nice to have a players besides Amare that can score in a halfcourt game. His rebounding and defense will be very useful. I just don't want a high draft pick to be wasted on someone that I doubt will be playing for us at all. Noah is a 6 point, 6 rebound Varejao player to me that D'Antoni won't give any playing time to. It's a waste. Horford has talent and I think he can help the team, especially with some tutoring from such a smart veteran like Kurt Thomas, who can help him with his shot and make him an even better defensive player.

He wouldn't get a hell of a lot of touches with the likes of Marion, Nash, Amare, Barbosa, Bell, and Diaw in town, and again - the style doesn't fit. Phoenix doesn't need a player that should be utilized offensively and slow the pace of the game down by posting him on the block. Phoenix needs an athlete that will run the floor with everybody else and that will play good defense down low. That is Noah.
Every player on the floor needs to have some sort of offensive ability or else they won't get minutes, unless we are 4 deep like when Steven Hunter got to play. I really would like Horford on this team, but besides him...who else? Noah is a waste, I'd be pissed if they even thought about him.

You don't need him to be an offensive juggernaut, but he would be the beneficiary off dishes from Steve Nash. You guys don't need any more offense, are you joking? You need big men and you need defense, Noah is both of that... plus he runs the floor and can finish off easy feeds from Nash. He'd run the floor. Phoenix is the ideal place for Noah, IMO, and he fills needs for Phoenix beautifully.
He won't play if he is on this team. If you have 0 offensive skill you don't play. That's a fact. He'll just take up space like I said, like Diaw does, and take Amare's room away. He'll get 10 minutes max, maybe none if KT is still here, with us and get 2 points and 3 rebounds. Waste of a lottery pick. He's Varajao except less experienced.I'd take Brandan Wright. At least he has some potential. Jianlian too. I'd take a chance.Edit: N/M on Jianlian. That would be stupid. You just need to watch a Suns-Rockets game to know that a guy that size is worthless in a fast-paced game. Wright needs more muscle, but I'd take him over NOah.

Secondly, Brandan Wright is the projected #3 pick and this pick is top 3 protected. Noah is the best fit, IMO. There's nothing more to argue, we've both made our points, I'm not changing my opinion and you aren't changing yours. EDIT: Also, "if you aren't a decent offensive player, you don't play in Phoenix." That's why you won't win a championship, you have no defense.
Hmm, Wright was a bit higher on ESPN but I could see him being drafted higher. Well, If Jianlin is athletic then maybe...maybe. His name was thrown out there in a draft prospects thread on the Suns board I go on.

(Example: Kurt Thomas) I think Horford is just as good defensively as Noah, but is a better player because he has some offensive skill.
