I honestly did not notice. And that says something. I did watch a game where he put up 3 points only in like 25 mins a month ago.
And it took that, in the 81st game of the season, to FINALLY get his PER above 12. I'm sure BRK feels like they're getting their $19,332,500 worth (not to mention the $37 million they still owe him for the next two seasons). BNM
I wish we could have dealt ET and Crabbe. ET is overpaid, but he does provide more consistent team defense than Crabbe and is obviously a better ball handler. I'm not sure Crabbe would be as helpful.
Not sure that's really the issue. The team has been getting plenty of open looks. They just haven't been making their shots. Until last night, Chief was shooting better from 3-point range for the season than Crabbe. Plus, with Chief., you get rebounding and defense. If we still had Crabbe, we'd also be ~$16.5 million over the luxury tax threshold and be one year into the inevitable repeater penalties. BNM
I don’t see that Crabbe would space the floor any better than the shooters we have. He was never (and still isn’t) a model of consistency. Seems like it would be a wash to me.....
Except that other teams realized they had to at least guard Crabbe. I am not pro-Crabbe; just saying that presently we have a few guys that other teams don't even bother guarding when they are on the three point line.
Crabbe is not a good defender...a reason we're a top defensive team without him...he's a streaky shooter too
Nobody was dumb enough to take Turner off our hands. We got lucky that BRK still wanted Crabbe and his bloated contract after he showed no improvement in 2016-17. It wasn't like we had a choice between Turner and Crabbe. The choice was keep Crabbe and pay him $19 million (plus luxury tax) a year for three more years, or trade him to BRK, stretch Nicholson at $2.8 million a year for 7 years, and get a $13 million TPE. We made the wrong choice in the summer of 2016 by matching BRKs offer. We made the right choice in the summer of 2017 by trading him to BRK - just one year too late. BNM
Imagine though if we didn't match with Crabbe and he had this 41 point game. Some people would be up in arms right now especially considering the shooting slump. I think it's important to note that the one year of his bad contract here does eliminate the what if we kept him posts.
If I were Steve Kerr, I'd want to beat Utah so the second round is against Portland, who is a much easier opponent than anyone else.
