(Colorado Springs Police Department) A family in Colorado is outraged after two men, who were accused of gang-raping a 13-year-old girl with their brothers and cousins, were only sentenced to probation. Tommy Williams, 20, and Clarence Williams, 19, were each sentenced on Tuesday to a minimum of 10 years of sex offender intensive supervised probation, with a maximum of life on probation, KKTV reported. The men are two of six suspects accused of sexually assaulting the young teen in December 2016 inside of the Stonebrook Terrace apartment complex in Colorado Springs. The victim's grandfather was shocked at the sentencing, telling the news station: "There was six of them and they gang-raped my granddaughter." The group of suspects — some of whom are reportedly related as cousins or brothers and identified as Jacolby Williams, Tyron Williams, James Williams, and a juvenile, in addition to Tommy and Clarence — were with the girl on Dec. 19, according to The Gazette. From left to right in top row, Tyron Williams, Clarence Williams and Jacolby Williams, and left to right in bottom row, James Williams and Tommy Williams were all accused of gang-raping a 13-year-old girl in December 2016. (Colorado Springs Police Department via KOAA) The victim told police she knew one of the men, and he invited her into the apartment to play video games. The 13-year-old said she went to the home with some female friends, but they left when she went to the bathroom. Arrest records, KKTV reported, state that two of the men then pulled the teen from the bathroom and forced her into a bedroom where the other four suspects were waiting. The victim's grandmother said at a sentencing in February that her granddaughter was passed around the group of men "like a hand on a clock" during the attack. She added in court Tuesday that the 13-year-old may never be able to have children. In January 2017, Tyron Williams was also sentenced to 10 years to life of sex offender intense supervised probation. Before his sentencing, he apologized to the victim and her family, and reportedly said that "If I knew she was underage, it wouldn't have happened in the first place." James Williams was sentenced in August 2016 to five years of probation, and the unidentified juvenile reportedly has an impending court date. Jacolby Williams' trial was scheduled for March 5; it's unclear what transpired.
Why focus on a case like this? I'm sure there are heinous crimes being committed every day by people of all colors.
Pretty fucked up I agree, but the thing with statistics is that you can always find outliers. Trends are what you need to be more concerned with.
This is arguably a much worse crime than what that swimmer at Stanford did. Maris is simply pointing out that you can cherry pick cases to prove or disprove any argument.
The racial divide is so serious that even the appearance of racial prejudice is wrong. You can tell by all of his dog whistles that he is deeply racially prejudiced.
I like you man, that's why it kills me that you use that term. Not quite as bad as mansplain or whitesplain but pretty fucking irritating. Dog whistles? Really? Every time I mention the rules white people are supposed to live by when it comes to discussing race it is inevitable that I'll get the "poor white man can't say the N word" line. I don't WANT to say it. (In fact it would be nice if I never heard it again) I'm bringing it up because this new dog whistle garbage is probably a result of white people being careful not to say something they aren't allowed to. I'm sure the tiki torch Nazi wannabes have some sort of code that I'm not aware of but that doesn't mean mainstream America knows any of it. No black person I know cares what I think they or the government should do to fix the inequalities that are still prevailing today. I'm not offering anything. I'm just not going to worry about offending someone on accident. Back to Maris, I've been reading his posts for years now and don't recall any that were blatantly racist. Search his posts if you want and provide proof. Dog whistles don't count.
Says the guy who maintains all poor people are bad people and unwelcome in his social sphere. I've never owned a dog whistle, btw.
Unfortunately they're real but thankfully I can say whatever I want about these monsters because they're white. https://www.yahoo.com/gma/father-al...n-hit-him-181706259--abc-news-topstories.html
I've said my piece and I'm sticking with it. I don't go in for racial prejudice that's openly displayed at all, not one whit. I was exposed to it for the first 13 or 14 years of my life. I've got a ton of family in Alabama and Georgia who express it. I know the dog whistles, which Trump is a big user of. I do not tolerate it and won't have it. Even news outlets don't engage in it. In fact, you don't see it much at all except in here and very seldom out there. I'm not going to go on about this other than I will report it when I see it.
Just so it's balanced. That means roughly statistically balanced. There was a time when I had to look deeply into myself and that's what I expect everyone to do or at least make the effort.
I found the answer many decades ago. Actually, it was my father who found it first and then apologized to me for passing on that crap to me. I worked hard all my life to try and overcome what was built into me. I had to catch myself everytime I felt like reverting to a racially prejudiced joke. I'm through with it and I'll spend the rest of my life fighting it both within me and without. If there's a devil, and I'm not saying there is, then he is promulgating this racial divide.
Personally, I place “dog whistling” right up there with “virtue signaling”. In other words, they’re mostly trendy bullshit terms to justify being offended. Racism is real and obvious and those who practice it are too. They don’t need code words for identification purposes. Scum always floats to the top. Edit. In absolutely no way does this refer to @MARIS61. I’ve met the guy and never ever got a rascist vibe. And face to face is a far more accurate way to determine character than some sports related blog.....
They like to hide in plain sight. That's why the whistles and signaling happens. I prefer my racism overt, NOT covert.
