What does this have to do with anything I just said? Absolutely nothing

Well, we agree about the Iraq war. So there's that. And, we agree about Syria at present also - I don't think the bombing accomplished anything at all.

So, don't get involved anywhere in the world, no matter what? Or just don't get involved in Syria at this moment? Let Hitler take over Europe? Or not? Where's your line?

I’m talking to you and responding. If anything you aren’t even replying to what I said, you just asked if I have been sent to war. No I haven’t. I don’t know how else you want me to respond

Okay? I replied to you. I answer your question. I don’t see the issue but sure

Hitler was a rare case but obviously you have to take that guy out. I think in cases like that, it’s necessary but I don’t think there will be many more hitlers in the future who did that much evil to a group of people. That’s probably my line. The issue is, war and terrorist attacks go on all the time in the Middle East. It’s a revolving door of extreme ideologists over there. The chemical attack was horrible but that’s the type of shit that goes on over there. I don’t think that’s a good reason for the US to get involved. We aren’t gonna stop it as proven in the past

Seems reasonable. I'd just note it may not always be easy to tell who's Hitler and who isn't until it's too late. Assad, having now won control of Syria, could end up being worse than Hitler. Or not.

Whoops! You over loaded your ass with that one Cippy. Your granpa was a Marine! Say it with respect and never speak fool in the same day.

We do not know now if the right thing has been done, and we don't know shit about why. What we do know is that our governement and our allies have decided to take this action. Now is the time for you to shut the fuck up and learn what's up. As time passes we probably will learn what we need to know to evaluate if the correct action has been taken. In the mean time call your grandfather and beg forgiveness for being a loudmouth and perhaps a ass if you let him know you spoke the fool word.

I mean possibly but given the sheer numbers of people Hitler had killed are insane. Who knows, I just think it’s a bad idea

Come on mar. If you knew the man you would say the same. He came from Italian immigrants. Rough life In Chicago basically being surrounded by mafia types trying to recruit him. Dude was an alcoholic, very abusive towards my father when he was a kid. All my interactions with him were him trying to say I should be a marine and I would be a good one. This is during the bush administration and the war on terror. He’s never been a real grandfather to me. So for these reasons, yes he’s a fool. It’s not like I don’t respect what he’s done for this country or in general but he wasn’t never a real grandfather to me. Barely any relationship or attempt at one. So that’s why I say that. If you knew him, you would probably say the same

I would not. If I were to meet the man, I would give him the harty Semper Fi he deserves just as the Marines that served with me, included me in their Sempre Fi. Beyond that I would not judge him, Jesus reconmends we leave that to the boss. Perhaps you might step down off the high bench yourself.
There is no profit in judging your grandfather and I doubt you qualify. Although being of about your Grandfather age, I know you to be bright and coming lad. But not ready for this task.

I understand there is a tight bond amongst marines but sometimes you have to look past that and look at the actual man himself as well, not just that he was also a marine. There is more to life than that

I did, I just don’t understand why you got so heated. You don’t know my grandpa yet you think he’s a great man based on the fact he’s a marine. I told you I respect that fact about him. I respect him in general but that doesn’t take anything away from the fact he just isn’t a good grandfather at all. Two separate things being a marine and a good person.

Well he has been in my life for 26 years. The only things he ever said to me when around me is how I should be a marine. Never gotten a call from him. Never had a relationship. Not saying he’s a bad guy but he hasn’t exactly been a good grandfather.

    More judgement?

What have you done for him? Perhaps he already knows you pull judgements out your arse. You might want to try taking the lead, and leave the judgements to the qualified.

Well shit I don’t know, he hasn’t told me this ever since I was 13. What did you want me to do for him at that age? Sorry but your thinking is ass backwards and fairly typical of the old marine way of thinking. Just because he was a marine, you wanna give him all this credit. As if he was some superhero. Sorry but he isn’t and besides being a marine, he’s been a shitty grandfather.
