Meyers Leonard and Pat Connaughton...at the rim.... Really? Nice fight to comeback, makes me hopeful moving forward. But really? Terry deserves some heat for this game plan, and that final minute especially.
It's going to take more convincing than Stotts is capable of to convince me that running Meyers off the bench for the first time all game for a PnR with a few seconds left when you are down by 3 with no time-outs is good coaching in any game....let alone a playoff game.
Grass isn’t always greener. I don’t care much for Stotts but the players love him and we made a lot of strides this year. But man, we are really not sharp in a lot of key moments. Stotts was awful in that last minute. At the same time though, he wasn’t the one who jump passed and turned it over on a fast break (CJ) or tried to draw a foul on a 5 footer (Dame).
We need a great assistant coach that is willing to override Stotts and save Stotts from himself. An assistant coach that'll say "Fuck it" get up and call timeout.
You're absolutely right, but I just want a change I am bored with this team as it stands. Frankly I really want to see what we can get for CJ too.
If Dame took a shot for the win and missed, that would've been fine, but for Dame to not even take a shot with single coverage??? Stupid.
A caller on the 5th Quarter stated it perfectly. "What dispensary did Stotts go to in putting Meyers in the game at the end and then running a play for him to get a layin.....when you are down 3?"
Yes, his players love him, but nevertheless, Stotts at the end of games is just horrible. He rarely calls a needed timeout to either stop a run, or call a play. Phil Jackson could pull that shtick off with MJ, or Shaq and Kobe, but we are not those teams.
