True, BUT PJ was also not used to working with NBA athletes and that caused him all kinds of problems, not the least of which was almost getting choked out by Sprewell.

But what are you going to say after the Blazers win the next 4 games?

Damn. Well that went from being one of the best all-time posts in the history of this joint, to nothing at all. Let's pretend I didn't use it and I'll apply this later to another post.

Is anyone else going to make a backcourt of CJ and Dame work?

I would split those two up before getting rid of the coach.

A decent SG is much harder to get - and much more valuable - than an average coach.
I'm not against trading CJ, but I'd rather have a system in place before doing so, so that we know what sort of player to target in a trade.
And with Dame's defensive improvement, combined with Nurk and Collins, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that a Dame/CJ back court could get us to contention.

By the time that happened, PJ had already been an NBA head coach for 3 years, so I'm hesitant to blame that on inexperience. Seems to me that was more a result of his personality and coaching style.

Either way, I don't think we should let that prevent us from pursuing a guy who appears to be one of the best coaches out there. We're not the destination franchise that can wait for a guy to prove himself elsewhere and then poach him. We have to identify someone who's ready to elevate both himself and our franchise, and take a big swing.

    Who is this miracle coach?

I would talk with Atlanta about Kent Bazemore. Atlanta might be willing to trade him and their pick (if they do not get top 3) for CJ plus other considerations.

First, injuries are a fact of life and part of the game. Don;t recall many giving the Blazers any excuses when we have had injuries.

Second, How many wins did other teams benefit from injuries to players? Way too many variables to say we benefited more than other teams.

Bazemore, Prince, and their pick. Bare minimum.

We've got two of the best guards in the league and we have a top 10 center. That is plenty of talent. It's not my job to name a better replacement. That is the front office's job. The way we played Saturday was flat out embarrassing. It was a complete meltdown.

I doubt Wright is interested in coaching the pros as he has a pretty much lifetime sweet job right now and the pro game is much different than the college game. For every Brad Stevens there are 10 college coaches who have failed transitioning to the pros

He has a chance to be the next coach K.

I wonder how much he likes recruiting though.

I agree. Amazing how quickly people turn on the coach, the players and/or the team after one game.
