OT MLB to PDX: We're talking baseball to PDX

There's a ton of history. Have you seen the documentary on Netflix?

 

Pioneers isn't politically correct these days, no way it'll be anything like that.

 

I like the (O)Possums. There's got to be possibilities with the P or O spellings and Portland, Oregon.

I wouldn't want it to be the Beavers - don't need any confusion with Oregon State. National media already can't keep Oregon and Oregon State straight.

In all seriousness, they'd probably keep A's.

Hey, there are ancient rocks younger than me.

Of course, my being old means you must be quite young, not that there's anything wrong with that.

 

That's a suggestion worthy of consideration, especially since the site was previously studied and approved by that study.

 

The Mavericks have little to no history. The Beavers produced a lot of MLB players and have a long history. I believe they were the original team when the Multnomah Stadium was built.

Little known fact, the Beavers had a radio announcer, Bob Blackburn, who left and went to work in Seattle for the Mariners the same year Schonely left the Mariners and came to work for the Portland Trail Blazers. I know they switched cities in 1970 and I remember Blackburn doing the Beavers baseball games, I'm just not sure that Schonely worked for the Mariners, although I think he did.

The national media is lazy at times. Occasionally, I still hear them say Oree-gone.

 

Not sure who it was but someone involved with his said that the two sites revealed were nit the only ones under consideration. Listening to 620.

 

Mike Barrett and Mike Rice for Portland Baseball TV Crew! What could be better? Baseball is slow enough that you can just give Uncle Mike three drinks and let him go. The stories would be amazing. Heck, bring Schonz in to tell stories about his baseball years in the 60's. What better way to establish the franchise than with old folks and stories.
