How good of a job do you guys think Mike Woodson is doing?Obviously the win's aren't there, but is that his fault? Or is it due to the youth and the inexperience? Is he showing enough to keep his job at least? He did a great job with the Pistons defense, so the hope has always been he could do it with the Hawks as well. The young promised players and there, they just have to mature and get it together. To me, he should have at least another 2 seasons before any decision is made regarding his future. But then again, if Rick Carlisle is available this off-season, should the Hawks persue him?

Well, I don't think you can put all the blame on Woodson. I mean look at the roster, no coach could take this team very far. They have no real big man, half their players are SF's, and they have been plagued with injuries this year (including their key offseason acquisition, and very solid veteran point guard, Speedy Claxton). There isn't much Woodson can do with that roster to begin with, but if you're asking if I think he's the guy to take them to the next level? No, I don't.

Even with everything I said above taken into account, I still don't think they should keep him around. He has had trouble relating to a couple players on this team (I've heard he has had outbursts with Josh Smith on more than one account as well as Lorenzen Wright). They need a proven teacher on that team, someone that can relate to the young players in a disciplinary (yet conservative) manner. I think this team clearly has a lot of talent, but they need the right coach that they all respect and can relate to. I don't think Mike Woodson is that guy, and I see no point in keeping him around if he's not in their long-term plans as it is.

    EDIT: typo's.

I think Woodson is doing the best anyone can do - the team is obviously still a young team with the exception of a few (Joe Johnson, who can tear it up). IMO Woodson should get at least two more seasons before you can say he's done a good job or not. However, it's an interesting situation with Carlisle likely to be fired from the Pacers organization. Carlisle is a great coach, and has coached the Pistons to what they are today, and he has improved on the Pacers (before the crazy Ron Artest incident). I would be very tempted to get Carlisle if I were the GM for the Hawks. Overall, I think the Hawks should just stick with what they've got and continue to build up. They are a solid young team.

Woodson does nothing. You guys have no idea, seriously, the man does absolutely nothing. His "look" is classic, he looks like he has no idea whats going on and no idea what anyones doing out there. Obviously you cannot blame him for the drafting/trades, but his rotations are pretty bad, he doesn't do a real good job with rookies. I think Solomon Jones was a great pick now, he does alot of good things out there, but Woodson doesn't give him enough minutes at all! He gets a double double, then he plays 3 minutes in the next game.. I don't understand some of the idiotic things he does..And reppin, Billy Knight is a moron also. Theres no way he'd be smart enough to grab a coach like Carlisle..
