Everyone has their price. With players, because of the cap, you can't just offer LeBron 2x what anyone else is willing to pay. If you want Jay Wright (for example) offer him 2x what Villanova can pay him. If that doesn't get his attention, and he really is your guy, offer him 3x. Throw enough money out there and you can get anyone you want. I've heard of coaches declining an interview, but never heard of one turning down Paul Allen's money. Pick your three or four candidates, contact their agents prior to conducting any interviews and let them know you want the best coach available and are willing to make the right candidate the highest paid coach in the league. Don't just assume they know that. BNM
It’s interesting to look back at that Paul George trade and see how impactful that was on a lot of levels. You add PG to this roster and we are on a completely different level. Everyone’s job is likely safe and the trajectory is completely different. And people say Pritchard made the right deal but if our offer was what it was rumored to be, they could have had Donovan Mitchell, Kyle Kuzma, or OG Anunony along with Harkless and/or Aminu. I think I would take a Mitchell, Kuzma, Turner core over Oladipo and Turner. That trade really seemed like it was our best chance to make that next jump.
I wouldn’t fire Terry but an interesting name did come up today for another job and he has ties to this area. Ime Udoka would be intersting.
I don't think we'd me much better. Another ISO player in an ISO offense. He's not any better than our guards going 1-on-1, and it's not like they'd play off of each other.
We're more than a couple prieces away, because our style of baskwtball will never breed postseason success. We also need a coaching overhaul, whather Stotts changes his philosophies or whether it's a new coach. We also have NO way of adding those final couple of prices unless we get lucky with a late 1st round pick.
They were doubling off pick n rolls send would help onto Nurkic off of Aminu, Turner, or whoever else was in.
I wonder if erik spoelstra is ready for a change of scenery. Although there might be bad blood over his dad.
Anybody think the Blazers brass is waiting to see what happens to Joe Prunty? He's in an interim role right now.
Then we're stuck rebuilding in 3 years anyway. Why give up now? I'm all for trading CJ or Dame if we can get a better player. But I'm not sure how you expect that to happen by bringing in a new GM or coach. We just lost one of our two all-stars a few years ago with nothing to show for it. In 2 years with Dame, Collins, Nurk, and CJ all in their prime we should be contenders. Especially if we can upgrade the wing with a better shooter that is an elite level defender. You're not going to bring in a coach or GM that is going to get more out of this team. You're not going to rebuild this team with a new coach and GM in time to be as good as we'll be in 2 years by doing nothing. Makes no sense. You're being completely unrealistic.
Those are opinions, but none of them change the fact that we just lost to a team with 3 all-stars. We overachieved to get where we were, and that showed in the playoffs. But we've gotten better every season. We'll continue to get better.
