You need to look up the definition of the word "guarantee". Whenever you guarantee something will happen, and it doesn't, you look silly. And that's in life, in any scenario, whether you controlled it or not. Because you made a guarantee.

Stating that's what you prefer is fine haha. You were sitting here saying that we need a coach with NBA experience when other situations have shown that's not always the case. It should come down to how the coach coaches.. Have you watched Villanova play much in the past few years? That team is so well coached and plays such a great brand of basketball.

You're still not paying attention. EVERY YEAR, a champion avoids teams along the way to glory. For instance, Houston has likely avoided San Antonio this year. Sometimes, it's not about proving yourself against a certain team. It's about avoiding them altogether.

I've seen great college coaches bomb in the NBA i.e. Pitino and to a slightly less degree, Calipari. Tim Floyd didn't work out too well either and they were high profile hires.

No shit Sherlock... A team faces 4 others on the way to the championship. That's not the argument.

My argument is great teams adjust to any style of basketball played against them, and any style we face. We don't.

That's the point. Address that and stop saying "Playoff teams don't play everyone in the playoffs!"

Calipari is too authoritarian to coach successfully in the NBA.
Pitino doesn't play a pro style offense, and has always had great recruits during his tenure.

Wright runs a pro style offense, has a great defensive scheme that translates, is a players coach who still holds his players accountable, and hasn't had a top 10 recruiting class in his time at Villanova yet has turned them into the best program in the nation.

Wright doesn't compare to anyone that has made the jump from college to the NBA except for Stevens, except Wright has achieved much more success than Stevens ever did.

There is no other Kawhi-type player. Kawhi is a one of a kind talent. Possibly the best player in the NBA when healthy. Closest two way player to him is well, we just faced the guy: Jrue Holiday.

But he did coach in the NBA. Prob the most successful college to NBA coach is Larry Brown.

I would say Butler and Paul George are Kawhi-types, just not as good. When I hear Kawhi-type I think of a 3-and-D wing that can create off the dribble. Kawhi's definitely the best, but PG, Butler, and even Otto Porter Jr. fits that mold.

I think Mikal Bridges could be the next one in that mold. Chandler Hutchison as well.

I meant "to coach successfully in the NBA".

Except you just tried to stir the pot instead of weighing in on a healthy discussion on adjustments in regards to great teams.

I don't understand what's wrong with disagreements? It's two people discussing their opinions on basketball. Nothing malicious. Nothing wrong. Are you itching for something like that?

3 and D?? What the fuck are you talking about? Bruce Bowen is a 3 and D player. Wes Matthews was a 3 and D player. Kawhi is MVP level all around 2 way player who can do everything. It looked like Playoff P was going to become that type of a player but it hasn't worked out. Overrated. Butler is more of a 2nd option to me. Neither of those players are available to us anyway so it's not going to happen.

So you're really only going to take part of my statement then turn it into this crap?
Neither Wesley Matthews, nor Bruce Bowen could create off the dribble. The "create off the dribble" part was a big part of that statement. The "not as good" was another important part. Butler is probably a 2nd option on a contending team, yes. I said they're not as good, but we're defining the "mold" and "type" of player we're looking for, and I believe by "Kawhi-type", he meant a 3-and-D SF that could create off the dribble.

You're not reading clearly though. You just disagree without even knowing what I'm talking about. Whatever I'm saying must be wrong to you.

Never said there was anything wrong, just saying that holy hell my friend, you seem to disagree with everything that king posts. I find it kinda funny. And yes, I'm allowed to give you a little friendly shit about it. Just like the friendly shit I gave you just now in an unrelated thread.
