That's what I thought. So NOT a cheap and dirty player. Like Oregon is not California just because it borders it. I've seen CJ react to some things that I thought were a little over reactionary and perhaps 'bordered' on being a cheap play. Don't think that makes him a dirty player unless it happened more often...which it hasn't. I thought Quick was over-hyperbolic and CJ had a bit too much Durant-like rabbit ears. Nothing really to see here.
It's called relating one situation to another. An advanced way of looking at things. One is a cheap and dirty player because he leads the team with 4 flagrants in 3 seasons while another isn't with 5 in one year? The Olive forum didn't die. They simply made changes and decided no longer to host forums at all, not just the Blazer one. The Blazer forum was very active, the others not very much. Keep up with times. Talk about irrelevant. Apparently this discussion has you all butthurt so I will bow out now.
Many players in the league make plays that are bordering on maybe cheap or dirty, but it was the "always" that Quick used to put it over the top. A couple cheap plays doesn't make one always bordering as that type of player. Like I mentioned before, I have read several comments over the years by fans saying we need to do some hard fouls and then when one does it they get flack.
I never bring up Mrs. HCP. Not my thing. And I was going with the thought that any HCP publicity was good HCP publicity. Was I wrong, FAMS?
Seriously, that's exciting. Let me know if I can help. I don't know many people, I don't do many things well, but I sometimes care.
I agree with the hard fouls. But there is also a difference between hard fouls and reactionary 'borderline' cheap fouls. I've seen CJ make a number of the 2nd types of fouls and I'm not the only one to have noticed that. It's not that often which is why I don't consider him a cheap type of player.
I don't think Quick was incorrect here. He was wrong for stating it, but it had merit. CJ has had 3-4 instances over the last 2 years where he's committed a hard foul in the upper shoulder/head area. He's following the play & knocks the opposing player off balance. I'm fine with hard fouls (even flagrant) from the front. If they are from behind (like CJ has done) they 'border on cheap and dirty'.
100 games a season........ so you say CJ has commited a hard foul 3 times in 400 games and you say he is being cheap and dirty? THREE times in FOUR HUNDRED games? man CJ is the least dirty player you will ever find in the league. Sorry man, I believe you are incorrect with your assumption.
It's just very noticeable that the number of status-quoers has increased about 50% with the influx of O-Livers. But it's okay. If I can lift 16 tons of deadwood on my shoulders, I can carry another 8. This is why Denny pays me the big bucks.
My thoughts as well (although I didn't think it rose to the level of "dirty"). CJ got hammered, we haven't exactly been getting the calls in previous games, and he was frustrated. It was a message foul as much to the refs as it was to the Pels. OTOH: Four in 3 years? If the Blazers weren't such choir boys, that play wouldn't even be a thing for Quick to comment on.
Seriously, I don't even know why this got brought up. CJ is not a dirty/cheap player. I also don't blame him for his reaction. Calling a professional athlete dirty is just about the worst thing you can call them. What an odd comment for Quick to make.
Collins will commit hard fouls as necessary, I have no doubt of that. But we don't want him to be "dirty". That should be Meyers' job
