DV and Coach Tibbs are both going to be quality head coache. Really respected around the league.

Vanterpool seems like a bright guy, definitely head coaching material. But, my concern of promoting anyone from our current coaching staff may be a case of "meet the new boss, same as the old boss". Stotts has been here so long, his coaching DNA has rubbed off on everyone from the players to the assistant coaches. Vanterpool, or Thibbetts may eventually create their own philosophy and approach, but I think inheriting the exact same roster that got Stotts swept in the first round will actually stunt their growth through too much reliance on the familiar.

Barring a major roster shake up (not likely given out payroll situation), I think we need a fresh start with a fresh pair of eyes at the helm.

You wouldn’t like DV because he was integral in Westbrook’s develepment in his early years.

Are you implying that it's Vanterpool and not Stotts who is the culprit for our offense being too isolation heavy?

You may be on to something. In the five seasons Vanterpool has been an assistant coach in Portland, the Blazers assists have decreased every year:

    2013-14: 23.2 apg, 9th
    2014-15: 21.9 apg, 12th
    2015-16: 21.3 apg, 21st
    2016-17: 21.1 apg, 23rd
    2017-18: 19.5 apg, 30th

    Coincidence? You decide.

Anything is better than Stotts at this point. I'll take the unknown over the known.

Why would Brad leave Boston?! Much better situation there than here.

    For the money?

Fun fact, Terry gets paid more per year than Stevens. Brad is on a 6 yr 22 mil deal through 2021/22. Terry is on a 3 yr 15 mil deal through 2019/20, so it's highly unlikely that he leaves BOS anytime soon.

Coaches getting paid more than or the same per year as Terry:

    - Hoiberg
    - Lue
    - Carlisle
    - SVG
    - Kerr
    - Doc ($10 mil per)
    - Walton
    - Kidd
    - Thibs ($8mil per)
    - Hornacek
    - Donavan ($6mil per)
    - Vogel
    - Casey
    - Pop ($11 mil per)

No thanks... seriously. Not if we keep Dame and CJ... the last think we need is a young inexperienced coach... so Dame and CJ will keep doing what they want. We need a big name that will command respect and change. Ime would be good if we go the rebuilding route and have young players he can mold

When do you foresee this happening? Two years? Five years? Ten years?

I might remind you that there was a time when everyone was clamoring for us to fire Nate McMillan and now he's doing quite well with Indiana. Sometimes firing the coach to get a better one is not really the answer.

Another example is Rick Adelman. And then there was Lenny Wilkins.

I had a roommate my freshman year in college who was 6' 5+3/4". Now, the draft was going strong and Americans were dying in large numbers overseas. They wouldn't draft anyone who was at least 6' 6". He would stretch himself every night trying to gain that extra 1/4". He would have loved this piece of valuable equipment and I would have been delighted to administer the 'treatments'.

The point is that we often don't realize what we've got until we discard it. So, what about Adelman and Wilkins?

BTW, a little side note, we used to boo Adelman when he was our point guard 'cause his play was so bad. I would never boo a Blazer now but I was young and easily impressed with the multitude of other fans who seemed to relish booing him, so, no, I'm not proud of that moment in my life.

I'd still love to retire Adelman's #12 Blazer jersey when the Spurs play in Portland

I've seen his Portland area home. He was near a Street of Dreams development in Tigard. A pretty darn good coach while in Portland and afterwards, of course.
