to quote Stotts "teams are judged by the post season." I would certainly agree with this. I'm sure Pops and other great coaches would as well. You could win 70 games in a season and if you get swept in the first round nobody will remember you.

Conversely, if you win 48 games in the regular season and make it to the NBA finals (even if you lose) fans will always remember that season.

I believe a 70 win season would set a record that would endure and be remembered for a long long time until somebody had a 71 win season. Even then, a 70 win season would be long remembered.

The '96 Bulls (72 wins) and '16 Warriors (73 wins) will be disappointed to hear that.

Ironically, I think you proved my point. I bet you remember that the Bulls and Warriors won championships. But, you don't remember that both held records for most wins? Remember who has the third most wins? I don't. ['97 Bulls and '72 L@kers]

Which Portland team won a championship? Which Portland team had the best regular season record? I'm guessing you know one, but not the other.

I still don't agree with all the CJ detractors. He simply needs a new coach

You might be right. It depends on how much faith you have that a different coach would help he and Dame do a better job on defense than they did against NO in the playoffs. And, how long are you willing to experiment with Dame and CJ (after two post-season failures) before you change things up. Some people might want to ride it out until 2020 or later. I wouldn't dump CJ for a bag of chips, but I have seen enough that I would look to see if there was a better deal that would place at least one good defender in our backcourt.

This post assumes that the problem lies there. First everyone was complaining about their D not their O.... Now the complaints are about offensive fit???

    I call bullshit.

    Wrong, I remember.
The championship was won in 1977 ('76-'77 season).
We were on our way to a 60 game winning season in the '77-'78 season.
I believe we had a 63 win season in the early 90s. But that is not a record. I believe the Bulls hold second place at somewhere around 68 wins.

Everyone knows the Warriors set the regular season record.

I don't understand. My comment that you quoted only discussed defense. And I don't put all the blame on CJ, it's just I don't think they can defend at a playoff level together, and Dame would be much harder to part with than CJ.

Well, you got second place wrong right there. And I even gave it to you above.

Taking into account age, contract, and ability to have a positive impact on both ends of the court, does anyone question that Nurk has supplanted CJ as the 2nd most valuable player on the Blazers?

We are talking about trading our *3rd* best player to help build a more functional and balanced roster. Who doesn't do that?

Why can't you wait until ownership changes? It's only a game bro. Outta your feelings.

    Neil must go!

We need forwards. Trading CJ won’t accomplish either!
