OT Backup PGs

Who're the best backup PGs in the NBA?
My candidates: Terry Rozier, Fred VanVleet, Tyus Jones, Dante Exum, TJ McConnell, Spencer Dinwiddie

It's often the case that a guy who might be a little slow or a little small can make a great backup because his job is different and the other team doesn't gameplan for him. Of all of them I probably like Jones the best, and have a feeling he'll be moving on from Minny soon.

Of course, they tend not to get respect, because people think they're easy to get in the draft. Shame we don't seem to manage it (although Shabazz looked good for a while there...)

I guess Brogdon from the Bucks is a backup since they got Bledsoe.

I don't know about Jones leaving, he is a hometown kid there.

I'm anything but a homer, but given an opportunity, Baldwin could be that guy.

Marcus Smart as a 6th man backing up both PG/SG would be my #1 choice.

Tyler Ulis as a facilitator/tempo guard would be my #2 choice.

I'm looking forward to what Baldwin can show this summer and in the fall as he does have some good tools. Napier as well but depending on what he is expecting for a contract could make him expendable and open the door wider for Baldwin.

Rozier is a great backup pt guard....I think he's better than Bazz

Bazz had a good stretch, but for the most part the 2nd of the season he was kind of disappointing in my opinion. Shaun Livingston is a good back up PG. Corey Joseph?

Of course he is better than Bazz. It’s not even close after his recent performances.

I am not sure if I like Tyus Jones that much. I think there are a few sleepers from recent drafts who might start performing very well soon - hope Baldwin is one of them. I also like Frank Jackson as a prospect, shame he lost all season. I like Frank Mason from Kings, a dynamic player who just keeps running and can score from all positions. I like Delon Wright at Raptors too and Ish Smith is a fun player to watch.

Players like VanVleet who appear out of nowhere and start performing at a level high above what anyone expected from them always impress me. He was never expected to make it into NBA and right now giving him 20-25 minutes a night isn’t even controversial. I like stories like this.

It seems like the younger guys GS has (cooks?) is taking some of Livingston’s minutes, but Livingston is still one of the 1st names that comes to mind for back up pg’s. He’s kind of perfect for that role, solid defender, not 3 point shooter so isn’t going to shoot a teams lead away. He’s a good distributor and is a height mismatch vs most point guards so he can still get his own shots off on post ups.

Rozier isn't going to be a backup for very long. Whenever his contract is up (next year?) he's going to get starter money. Livingston is 32, or else yes, great, great backup point guard and can easily be a starter most nights.

I can't stand Berea and would never select him. Yep, I hate his guts.

Why is that supposed to be interesting? Livingston's advanced metrics are far superior to ET's. They're really not that comparable

I loved some towel waiving Patty Mills but we don't need him as a pt guard...he's just not that good.
