I was reading a lot of you guys saying that PS3 would be better than Xbox 360 so I'm wondering why you believe it will be and why should I get that instead. I know PS2 had more game choices than Xbox, but now a lot of their games are switching over to or adding to the Xbox system. So let me know why it's better.
Yeah, I don't really understand why it would be better. XBox 360 seems to have a better game selection in reality (GTA 4 will be released simultaneously), and it is far cheaper. If you want a supercomputer and media center, you could get a PS3. If you want a better console, I suggest the 360. (IMO, Wii could end up giving the PS3 a run for its money as well)
To add onto what Justice said, I just don't see PS3 competing with the 360 in terms of their online system. Microsoft has done a lot of stuff with Xbox Live... and I don't see PS3 competing with them there.PS3 might ultimately have the better graphics since it has like a $300 or $400 graphics card in there (or so I heard), but I doubt it would be a huge difference from the 360 graphics-wise.
I have had this debate with many people. They both have the same processors but the PS3 is a little bit faster. The PS3 has a the blu-ray player and xbox has the HD DVD player. Depending upon how much blu-ray catches on, this may or may not be a loss for the 360. Many have said that the DVD will be the last form of popular disc-memory units. In my mind, it all comes down to the games. It is my belief that the 360 is now winning in this department and will hold that title for a long long time. I like to think of it in basketball terms:Halo series: Michael Jordan. In a study (I will try to find it) done approx a year ago, 92% of people who own an Xbox, own Halo. This far surpasses any title that can be found exclusively for the Playstaion series. Gears of War: Lebron James/ D Wade Given the name "The Halo Killer", Gears will take over where Halo leaves off after Halo 3. Gears could possibly be the best video game out right now. Had one of the (if not THE) highest release numbers in history. Gran Tourismo: Wilt/Shaq Highly regarded as the most dominant automobile game ever made. Grand Theft Auto: Pete Maravich True, GTA will be released for both systems simultaniously. But it hasnt happened yet. Therefore, I will generously give GTA to Playstation for NOW. To put it simply, GTA changed video gaming. Take a look at all the top selling games our there that are run on a similar platform. I.E. Saints Row, The Godfather, Crackdown, etc, etc, etc. So, if your going strictly by numbers, all you have to do is ask yourself who would win in a game of 2 on 2? Jordan and James/Wade vs. Maravich and Shaq/Wilt.In my mind, it just came down to my opinion. I would rather be able to play Gears and Halo than Gran Tourismo and GTA (which is now on Xbox. But like I said, it hasnt been release simultaniously on both systems yet. Until that happens, PS gets it). Plus the online aspects on the 360 far surpass the online aspects for the PS3. I will probably end up buying a PS3 in a year or two when the price goes down. But as of right now, Xbox definitely gives you more for your money.
- PS3 has a blue ray player. If you're not familiar with what a BR player is, It's the next big system when it comes to watching movies. It's the next step above DVD's. Blue Ray players cost around $1,000, you get it free when you buy your PS3.- The online game play is 100% free. You don't have to pay for anything like you do for the XBOX360.- The graphics are slightly better already. The PS3 just came out, the graphics are going to be insane 5-6 months from now. It's just going to take awhile for gaming companys to use the PS3 to it's full potential. It's only using 30% of it's total power, and the graphics are already better than the 360.- It has a motion sensor built in the PS3 controller,It's kinda like the Wii in that aspect. When playing NBA 2K7, you can shoot free throws by making free throw motions with the controller. You can actually stand up, bend your knees and shoot like you would a FT in real life. The same goes for racing games, you cans steer with the controller.- The PS3 comes with a 60GB hard drive, while the 360 only has a 20GB.- Resistance: Fall of man, is BETTER than Gears of War.- When it comes down to it, it's hard to go against the PS3 considering it has only been out for a few months now. The 360 will always have more games, and more fans because it has been out longer.

QUOTE (MLibid @ Apr 19 2007, 02:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

PS3 doesn't even have half as many good games that XBox 360 has out.
Ugh... of course it doesn't. The 360 has been out for 17 months while, the PS3 has only been available for 5 months. Give it some time, it doesn't happen that fast. It still has plenty of great games out right now though. Motorstorm, Resistance, NBA 2K7, Virtua Fighter 5, The Godfather, Sonic, Need for Speed, Spiderman 3, Grand Theft Auto 4, ect.

Gears of War is the best game out there right now...And PS3's online gameplay might be free, but I doubt it is better than Xbox Live and probably doesn't offer everything XBL does. XBL is easily worth the $50 a year I pay for it.Also, as far as the games go, I read somewhere that the PS3 had one of the worst launch line-ups in gaming history. I honestly don't see too many PS3-exclusive games that will "kill" the 360, especially now that the 360 will have GTA, and already has Saints Row. Plus Gears of War and Halo 3 alone will beat anything PS3 has to offer gaming-wise, in my opinion. The new 360 has a 100GB hard drive, and a free HD-DVD player and HDMI cable as well. Plus, it's black...
As I said before, GTA 4 will be simultaneously released. If you want GTA 4, there is no specific reason to buy a PS3. Unless perhaps you are that obsessed about graphics. You know, like 300 dollars obsessed.
my friend has a ps3, and he told me Resistance sucks. He actually has no games because he said theres nothing out lol. As of now PS3 is a bust compared to xbox 360's debut. First off, its way to expensive and they released nothing of good quality with it. 360 sold out when it first came, its relatively easy to find a ps3. It'll prolly catch up eventually when developers start moving away from ps2 to ps3, but right now Xbox 360 is still the better system.

It is the next thing, but it is my (as well as others who actually work in the home electronics field) opinion that DVD's will be the last major form of disc memory systems. Note: For $200 you can buy an HD-DVD player for the 360 that shows DVD's in HD. The player in the PS3 will NOT show your DVD's in HD. Only the Blu-Ray discs will be shown in HD. -Online game play is free. There is no way around that. Thats just sweet. -The graphics are slightly better on the PS3 right now and they will always be. But the gameplay will remain the same. Let us not forget that the 360 isnt at its full potential yet either. It will be at least a year before we see any major differences in the systems. -The motion sensor is nothing like the Wii. It is limited in the movements you can do and most of the control can be done with a slight flick of the wrists.-The PS3 has a larger hard drive because it NEEDS a larger hard drive. You have to download a lot more of the game onto your PS3 than you do on the 360. Chances are that 360 users will not ever use up their hard drive. -"Resistance: Fall of man, is BETTER than Gears of War". Them are fightin words my friend. Gears of War is BY FAR the best video game out right now. Resistance IS an average FPS with better than average graphics. I am a fan of both systems. I own both systems. But, especially as of right now, the 360 offers far more for your money. The PS3 does have an internet browser but it is hard to see on a larger TV. It was easier to see on my 22 inch TV than it was on my 60. In the end, yes, the PS3 will always have slightly better graphics. However, the 360 will offer slightly superior gameplay and better games. Plus it saves you money from having to buy new DVD's in order to watch them in HD. In my mind, neither system is better than the other. It all comes down to the games. As it always has. And the 360 will most likely offer better games than the PS3 (especially with PS not being able to stake claim to the GTA series anymore).
I was really thinking of getting a 360, but the PS3 would just be better for me. Besides not having to pay for online gaming, I also found out from my friend that if I wanted Xbox Live wireless I'd have to buy something for another 100 bucks. And since my parents don't let me buy games like Gears and Halo, getting a 360 just isn't worth it for me.
