That’s exactly what Neil wants... for people to just quiet down and go away

I get it, we have a low draft pick, and what feels like a not very good position to get the pieces we need to compete without making some changes, and it sucks. I really don't think NO is the guy for the job, and I don't believe he will make the moves necessary. I'm having a hard time looking forward to next season too, but it's also a few months away a lot can change (hopefully something does), we already know they have a bunch of decisions to make, and have a pick and MLE to work with (if nothing else). So hopefully things don't feel so crappy come October.

I don't think we need to sit down and shut up and suck our thumbs til October either, so don't take what I'm saying to mean I think we should just not say anything and trust neil olshey will get it. PA is the only one with a voice in the matter though, so don't drive yourself and those around you crazy hoping for some guy that (I'm guessing) none of us know personally to make a decision. We literally have no say in the matter, if I did Olshey would be gone, and Stotts may still be there but the leash would be pretty short.

You mean like how the defense went from historically bad to top-10 in defensive rating this year? Gee I sure wish they wouldn't just let that issue persist.

Or do you mean how since the summer of 2016 they've had no "flexibility" but somehow managed to add a quality young center and a lottery pick big man?

I don't know how I feel about the season Nurkic had, he definitely helps defensively and at times is effective on offense...
Zach Collins is a guy that I've gone back and forth with co-workers, I think I see flashes of potential there, but his season stats are, 4.4ppg, 3.3rpg, .5bpg, and an impressive PER of 7.56. Also for a center / pf his fg% is awful it's at 39%. Not saying he can't and won't get better just saying, I think we need to pump the breaks a bit on proclaiming he's the future PF for the Blazers.
I won't deny that in the regular season they were better overall this year than last, and the defense did improve, I won't even deny that they did manage to get an average starting center (with potential to be better) for a back up center and some how got a pick out of Denver too.

Let's not forget they were last in fast break and assists the offense went way down hill from the year before.

14 points and 9 rebounds a game with ELITE rim protection and we have people (not you) talking about how the Blazers should just let him walk. It's crazy talk. Yes, he needs to improve but there aren't many young bigs that are fully developed. He was great over the last few months of the season. I don't buy the "he doesn't fit today's game" argument either. We aren't going to out small ball teams like Houston and GS so why not go a different route and beat them up inside.

Collins was supposed to have somewhat of a redshirt year this year. The fact that a project big that was 2-3 years away from being in the rotation actually contributed and showed flashes is promising. His defense is phenomenal for his age. He's also got the potential to score in ways we haven't seen in awhile from a big man with post moves including a money Dirk like step back, some ability to score off the dribble, and a decent looking three pointer that should improve with hard work. This kid has a lot of tools and despite being mad at his selection I am really looking forward to seeing him develop.

Like we did when the fans ended the jail blazer era?

Please tell me how you demand a team change their coach/GM?

My issue with Nurkic is how engaged mentally is he going to be, we saw it at times this year, and the mental stuff is basically why Denver let him go. I'll give him some what of a pass for the Pelicans series as while I think Nurkic is pretty good, AD is probably the best big in the league (he's at least top 3). It seems to be a pattern though, of
long stretches of good Nurkic, than a bad game turns into a long stretch of bad Nurkic. My personal take is I'd love to keep him if the price is in the 12-15M range, and honestly if they have to pay him more they are in a position they may just have to give him a bigger contract, I think he's like in the top 10-15 starting centers in the NBA which you can win with that especially when he helps your defense so much, but can they keep him mentally locked in when they need him to be?

I wouldn't be surprised if Collins takes a step up in the next couple years and can be a legit starting PF, I'm just pointing out that he still appears to be quite a ways from it, and I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't make it either. I'm kind of taking a lets wait and see how much he works at it approach. Tools seem to be there, but he is definitely a project and who knows how that''ll turn out.

One thing to consider is that Nurkic is still only 23 years old and bigs develop slower than other players.

I don't think you can. We, as a fan base though seem to be more accepting of mediocrity than others.

I usually wait to see what changes actually happen during an off-season before deciding whether I'm going to be excited about the team or not. Apparently, you don't even have to wait until the off-season even starts. That's a special kind of talent.

I was actually pretty sure 3 years ago they were missing the playoffs and would pretty much be garbage all year. Didn't happen that way. Thing is some will say that was the problem. If they would have tanked or at least really sucked they could have got that third high draft pick to go along with CJ and Dame. I understand the tanking to get better. But that isn't the way this is going. Blame Olshey all they want but every game they are right there with us rooting for the team to do well. Unless of course they are hoping every game is a loss.

Was that the year ESPN predicted 26 wins for the team? and it was after we replaced 4 starters?

You are not getting my point I don't think.

You can quiet down without going away. Do you really think NO is reading your posts saying... "oh shit. .this guy wont shut up. I better get off my ass...."

Sure but then we beat the hottest team in the league holding the rookie of the year to 6-26 shooting.

The only loss to complain about in your lil soliloquy, is the Mavs.
