Despite sucking major ass all year long and everyone being injured, there had to be some things that impressed you with this season. For me: 1. Ryan Gomes working on his range and extending it out to 3 point range as the season wore on. That really surprised AND impressed me. Shot it at 38% which is pretty damn good, especially for a guy like Ryan. 2. The emergence of Rajon Rondo. I think we all knew he was a pretty good player, but I honestly didn't think he would be this good this early. 3. Tony Allen. If you watched the team at all right before their losing streak, you will know what I'm talking about. He's the reason that they didn't get blown out in every single game, and that they actually won some.4. The fight that all of the kids put up, especially during the 18 game losing streak. 5. Scal actually having a little bit of value really made me happy. He really grew on me this season. I love the tits now. 6. How hard guys like Big Al and Rondo worked to improve their game. Others from you guys?
Nobody pointed fingers...everybody stuck together through the pain and I think that's what defines Celtics Pride
Like Mike Gorman said on Monday night, it has probably been the consistency of Al Jefferson this year. Most people expected Al to make some type of "jump" this year (though I don't think anybody expected him to improve THIS much), but absolutely nobody expected him to play this way on a consistent basis. He has consistently, on a night-in and night-out basis, put up double-doubles and been that legitimate scoring option since late November. Great to see Al really explode this year. Like I have said before, he went from a player who most fans would include in a trade to a boarderline All-Star caliber player in one summer.
To add to Al's consistency, he's only had a small handful of games where he didn't get a block or a steal and most nights he got some of both, thus showing that he is active on the defensive end too.I expect to see him avg 2 blks and over a steal a game next year. It's gonna be great to see Paul and Al at 100% next year and to see how much Rondo improves with a year under his belt and some serious off season training.Allen will hopefully bounce back and get right back to being a stud contributor.Ainge will trade for a solid vet who can play some D and infuse the team with the know how on doing the little things that can take this team to the next level.Gerald Green buys a clue and puts it with his incredible athleticism and improving shot and learns to make good decisions.Playa, good point about the team staying tight and not pointing fingers.
I love the improving game of Jefferson, he's my 2nd favourite player on the team behind Pierce. I went to the only game here in Phoenix when the C's game to town, and it was a lotta fun to watch... It was pretty close up until the 4th quarter or so, and I was just SO impressed with Big Al's dominence in the paint. If Ainge and the Celtics are smart, they'll be sure to lock this guy up for a good amount of time (if they haven't already), because I can only see him getting BETTER!
