Based on our current roster, who do you think will win MIP?

I am putting my money on Collins. I think he has the drive and work ethic. I think he will be our starting PF(barring a trade) no later than the all star break. I think he might win the spot to start the season even.

I am predict a 14/7/4 season for him this next year. averaging 28-30 minutes per game.

I'm actually going with a guy who I think has a Wes Mathews work ethic and finally got some burn this year...Pat Connaughton...I think he nailed what he needed to work on in exit interviews and he's in Portland working out from the day season ended...I'm not going to write him off as a sleeper for next season..surprised Swanigan isn't on the list ...he's another guy I think will make progress going into a fresh season..Collins is close already as is Mo, etc...the biggest leap is going to come from a bench guy in my view

    I went with Collins.

Baldwin could have a greater improvement, or at least a greater contribution, which is what MIP really is, but I don't think he should qualify.

I missed Swannigan and intentionally left Meyers off. Id love for Swannigan to make that leap, but I think he is out of the league in two years. Too slow for todays NBA and too much cement in his socks when he jumps. But I still should have added him because thats just MY opinion

I think he has too much skill to be out of the league. He won't be a starter anywhere but some team can always use someone who can shoot and rebound sitting on their bench.

Is the 4 personal fouls, because I don't see him averaging anywhere near 4 assists of 4 blocks per game.

Just to keep things in perspective, many here consider Arvydas Sabonis to be one of the best passing big men in the history of the game. His career high in assists per game was 3.0.

Wow. Didnt know that about Sabonis. YEs it was 4.
The dif is Sab was a 5 and Collins is a 4. I see Collins next year doing alot of what Plumlee did for us two years ago in regards to assisting.

But Plumlee was also a center.

In the entire 41 year history of the franchise, the only PF to average 4 APG for the Portland Trail Blazers is Sidney Wicks. He did it three straight seasons back in the early 1970s. The last time we had a PF average 3 APG was Maurice Lucas (3.1 APG) in 1978-79.

Unless there is a seismic shift in our playbook, and Collins instantaneously develops into one of the best passing big men in the history of the game, he won't come close to averaging 4 APG.

That's much more realistic. He averaged 2.0 fouls in 15.8 MPG this year. Double his minutes to 31 - 32 MPG and he should be right at 4 fouls per game.

Its what I meant all along, I just wanted you to assist me with the clarification. :)

I cannot tell a lie. I mean assist. Your common sense told me to change it to fouls.

I rely on you, you know.
