Interesting...informative...I've never listened to any album he talks about but the guy knows his shit....thanks for the clip...wouldn't have stumbled on it on my own
My little brother got out of the navy and tried to get me to appreciate them....I have an aversion to music sampling in general...old school guy. Not my thing but I've heard their songs in clubs....I wasn't a fan of punk music either and I have done sound for the Dead Kennedys and some other punk bands of the time when I ran the stage board at a club I gigged at part time. Not my cup of tea. Sampled music to me is like posting someone else's articles to express yourself and drum machines put a lot of real drummers out of work...Hawaiian musicians on the Big Island used to be in all the bars singing and playing ukes....for free...now every bar has a karaoke machine and charges people to sing. To me it's like robot wars....
Ha! My friend used to say the Beastie Boys were the best ever in the 90s. He drove water cooled 80s Rabbits and VW pickups and Sciroccos.
I do not give a shit who is the greatest or best - but I always loved the Boys and I still enjoy it when they happen to appear on the radio in my car (yes, I drive an old car with a radio and do not Spotify my way around the neighborhood). Not many groups can make you smile and jump 30 years later - and they are certainly in that group.
Murs is a dope rapper himself. Mainly independent but he made good stuff, don’t know if he raps anymore but he’s good. Beastie boys were ahead of their time. Their style was unique. I remember when I first heard them, my sister played brass monkey and it was so different. They had a punk rock vibe but also sounded dope on a beat. The new style is one of my favorites by them.
Not my cup of tea either as give me some good old school classic rock. My son was into them and went to their concert years ago. Never did anything for me as very little rap music did.
