Fitting the Small Fisherman to dampen the roll while MotorSailing. Sad to see the state of dereliction the small ports on the West Coast have become. Nothing sad about an old fishing boat becoming old, but that it is still there! Looks like quite some time too. Once, waterfront space was too valuable to leave to no use, but the business behind is no longer, nor is the one next door to left in the yellow building visible. Both owners have passed on with no one to continue.
MarAzul is heading North again today. Noaa predicts the winds to permit rounding Cape Mendocino, so I expect to be in Brookings Oregon Thursday evening. While on the California cruise, she visted 21 of California's 58 counties. I think that is about all the counties you can navigate to from the sea.
Well made it to Brookings, another 170 some miles up the coast. The winds around Cape Mendocino were none, the sea was flat calm. MarAzul the Motor Sailor was flat scooting along on a calm sea. Now we must get around Cape Blanco tomorrow, Saturday no good with 25 maybe 30 knot wind expected. A bit of sleep and back to sea.
