YONKERS - Boston Celtics star Sebastian Telfair was arrested early today after police said a loaded hand gun was found in his car when he was stopped for speeding on the Bronx River Parkway in Yonkers.Telfair, 21, who gave police addresses in White Plains and his native Brooklyn, was stopped shortly before 4 a.m. on the northbound Bronx River Parkway, when police said his 2006 Landrover was clocked going 77 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone.Police said Telfair, who was driving, produced a Florida driver's license that had been suspended. Westchester County Police Officer Adrian Camacho subsequently found a loaded .45-caliber handgun under the front passenger seat, Westchester County police spokesman Kieran O'Leary said.A short time later Camacho discovered a loaded .45 caliber handgun under the front passenger seat, O'Leary said.Telfair and a passenger in the car, Al Eden Fuentes, 28, of Queens, were both charged with second-degree possession of a weapon, a felony. Telfair was also hit with a misdemeanor charge of second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and issued summonses accusing him of speeding and driving without a license violations."He was very polite and cooperative with our officer,'' O'Leary said of Telfair, who along with Fuentes was being held by county police this morning. Both men are expected to be arraigned later today in Yonkers City Court.Reached shortly before noon, Celtics spokeswoman Erica Hunt said the team would have no comment at this time.http://www.nyjournalnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll...PORTS/304200003 [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Not owned. I still stand by that notion. I still think that Bassy is a good kid, he's not a thug. He's from Coney Island, everybody from places like that (rich or poor) end up getting in situations like this. Now, that doesn't excuse what happened, but I don't think Bassy is a bad person, I don't think he's a "thug."

I hope Boston cuts this guy... They don't need to mess with him, he came in with Portland SO over-hyped and has proven to be just a disappointment this year.

Yeah, I think it's a possibility they could cut him. They almost declined to pick up Tony Allen's option when he had his off-court issue in 2006. They ended up picking up the option because he meant a lot more to the team, but that isn't the case with Telfair. We'll see.

Glad to see people now seeing this kid the way I have for the last couple seasons. Like CB32 said, he's not a thug or a bad guy, but he makes stupid decisions. Like the famous sang. You can take the man out of the ghetto but not the ghetto out of the man.

I saw him this way because of the incident a few years ago when he got caught with the gun going onto a plane. Now people will actually realize that he was a liar, like I told them before.

Telfair and passenger Al Eden Fuentes were charged with felony second-degree possession of a weapon. Under New York state law, when drugs or weapons are found in a car, everybody in the vehicle is charged with the related offense, unless a single person admits it belongs to him.According to Telfair's attorney, Ed Hayes, the gun is not registered in Telfair's name, though the attorney would not comment beyond that regarding the gun.In addition to the gun charge, Telfair faces a misdemeanor charge of second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was issued summonses for speeding and driving without a license.http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/ce...s/celtics_blog/

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>but he makes stupid decisions</div>Exactly. Driving around yonkers without a liscense at 4AM going 77 in a 45 MPH with an unregistered gun in his car? Jesus christ that's retarted. I don't know if he'll go, TA had a much worse incident and was also having injury problems and Boston still didn't move him. I know Telfair doesn't mean as much to the team but Ainge has constantly talked about how he still likes Bassy's game and he sees tons of room for improvement. Also, CB32, we're definately having that big sebastian telfair night at the GAH-en now. [IMG]

Bassy only gets in trouble when he visits Brooklyn/Coney Island. The point of getting him out west would get him farther away from New York (also, up-tempo west coast teams fit Bassy's style better).
