Steve Kerr: NFL Is Using The Anthem As Fake Patriotism, Nationalism, Scaring People

As much as I may get tired of the Warriors winning all the time, I never get tired of Steve Kerr speaking his mind. He is a highly intelligent, thoughtful man who just flat out gets it and isn't afraid to speak his mind. My respect for him is profound.

Growing up at a time when athletes were considered nothing more than "dumb jocks", I'm rather stunned that our athletes have become more intelligent than our politicians.

Steve Kerr is the only reason I don't hate the Warriors. I hate their fans, but that's not his fault

    The Republican Party confuses me.

Paul Ryan: American needs more Catholics!

Donald Trump: America needs less kneeling, it's disrespectful!

That may be true. I find him to be much more nefarious than stupid.

It certainly needs Catholics who follow what Jesus said more than they follow what Ayn Rand said.

Damn straight. Bravo! People in this country need to wake the "F" up. These guys are trying to bring attention to a serious issue, and many just don't give a damn.

This conversation annoys me so much. I grew up in North Portland, was around colored people (brown, blacks, whites, whatever) my whole life. My parents were strong Christians in fact they were pastors, they always taught me to love and respect people no matter what, their skin color, their beliefs, if they hated me, it didn't matter I should respect other people. The only real fight I got into as a kid was when a neighbor of mine wouldn't let the black kids play basketball with us (they were a lot younger than us), and he was bullying them - like hardcore throwing basketballs at them and I don't know if I won the fight or not but I decked him pretty good, and took the kids back to their parents and apologized to her that her kids were treated like that. I was 10. Am I a saint no, but I knew that crap was wrong.
It churns my stomach when I hear Black people say hey there are issues with the Police treating us unfairly, or that their communities are in shambles, their scared to go outside, they live in ghetto's and feel like they can't get out, and people won't even freaking listen to them. When I was 19 I was robbed by two black men, who pointed a gun at me, told me to get on my hands and knee's and I'm pretty sure I was a goner had they not heard sounds and took off running, but that doesn't mean all black people are like that. I shouldn't single out "Black's" here like this, I realize that all minorities, and all people have their challenges.

I know white people have fears of things too, and they have their own battles, but my goodness I don't get it, I don't get how this became about the flag and the military, and who hates America or who doesn't. This should be about how can we help...
Instead of pointing out everytime this comes up statistics about black on black crime, or Chicago and Baltimore, how about we do what we can do help those cities, or at least get the people who want out, out of there. Just makes me shake my head, makes me angry, and sad all at the same time.
Anyways I'm sorry for all this talking, I've got my own failings in life.

Because Colin Kaepernick made it about the flag. His quote:
“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”

This country is not perfect, but it’s still the most free country in the world, with the most opportunity. To many the flag is a representation of the good things in this country... and many have died behind the flag for all the positive change that has happened over the years. Now police brutality is one of the problems that still exists, but him saying the flag stands for all that is wrong and this country is not worth it... how can you blame people for making it about the flag with this statement

I have no problem with Kaepernick kneeling. None what so ever. But the suggestion that he is sacrificed his career is laughable. His performance his last two years in the league is the reason he is currently unemployed. Not saying he is not as good as some current back ups, but trying to force himself out of SF only to return because he was demanding too much money, then playing sub par, does not work in NFL. They will sign anyone who is good, he just wasn't after Harbaugh left.

Collin K is kind of a piece of work in a lot of ways. However, when there are huge swaths of people who feel threatened to be outside, threatened to be around police officers, feel like the color of their skin dictates how far they can go unless they hit the genetic lottery than we have a problem.
Our military fight for or at least used to fight for our freedoms, and the greatest offense they should feel is they fought bled and many died so that people in the states could be free, and yet there are many who don’t feel free.
I understand some people claim race or whatever when it’s not warranted, I understand that America has made strides in the racism issue.
Even if you want to make it about the flag, I don’t understand why the flag being offended is more important than people. I don’t understand why a military person or veteran would be offended that someone would look at the flag and say America has failed me and my community and I’m not going to stand up until we fix it. That’s not disrespecting those who fought in wars, or being unpatriotic, that’s saying hey the ideals that flag is supposed to stand for aren’t being upheld and we should fight to uphold those ideals, on our own turf.

Just sayin, Colin made it about the flag with that statement. There is a difference between saying there are things wrong in this country that need to be fixed vs saying the flag and this country stand for everything that is wrong...

This is complete bullshit. I could name at least 7 QBs on this list he should be starting over and so can you.

My issues with Collin K mainly stem around wearing the castro shirt, Castro killed a ton of people, he oppressed his own people. I've known people who had family killed over there by the actions of Castro.
    Just seemed kind of tactless.
In terms of how good he is, or was. His career was definitely going down hill before this he did get beat out by Blaine Gabbert. I believe he would be in an NFL camp today if this didn't happen or he was a top 10 qb.
However, to me the issue we should be talking about is how do we fix the police force both getting rid of the ones who abuse there power, and also to fix there relations with minorities, and how do we fix "ghetto's" for lack of a better term, how do we help minorities feel safe just being who they are, how do we make them actually feel like they're on equal footing and will be treated that way.

I'm more into college football than the NFL, so I'd probably lose an argument about how good Kap is or isn't, but from what I know, it seemed like even before the kneeling thing started his career was kind of heading down hill.
