Yeah I think they’d trade Porter the problem is not many teams have money and I can’t see them getting equal value in return. They’d most likely have to take back bad contracts. Oubre would be much easier to trade and while he’s a player in his own right, he’s nowhere near Porters level.
His contract is worth it. Best glue guy in the league. People want to get Robert Covington for $16M a year... and somehow his contract is valuable.. but Porter is 3 times the player.
Covington is pretty cheap moving forward: Robert Covington 27 $16,698,103 $10,464,092 $11,301,219 $12,138,345 $12,975,471 They gave him a big raise this season to pay less long term. Porter is paid what CJ is making. Best or not, debatable, that's a shit load to pay for a "glue guy"
Porter is making twice as much as Covington, and is three times as good. I'd rather have one Otto Porter Jr. than two Robert Covingtons.
Here's a full comparison. Look at the playoffs for each and not sure how you come up with the bpm numbers either. https://www.basketball-reference.co...llum&y2=2018&player_id2=mccolcj01&idx=players https://www.basketball-reference.co...llum&y2=2018&player_id2=mccolcj01&idx=players
The playoffs were such a small sample size (4 & 5 games respectively) that using stats to show one player is better than another is pointless. Dame's playoffs stats are terrible..... However, looking at the entire year (82 games) provides better clarity. Porter does a lot more to help a team win than CJ does. Really, it's not even close
Simple addition of the past two years? Did you not read close enough..? My response to this is exactly what Tester's is above.
Hearing that Portland is involved in a couple of discussions for their Crabbe TPE. It is so much more usable now than after July 1st but it will also add a lot to their tax bill.
Courtney Lee (doesn't fit with NYK's youth movement) and Eric Gordon (to help make room to go after LeBron) are two other possibilities. BNM
Do you know if any of those names will also come with a draft pick, or swap of picks, attached? It seems like we should receive some incentive to take a big, unwanted contract off someone else's payroll. BNM
