Um it's not a "coulda" it's what was ACTUALLY traded. They traded a lottery protected 1st round pick. If we are playing the "coulda" game then they could've very easily finished behind several teams heading into the season like the Cavs, Celtics, Bucks, Warriors, Thunder, etc. It wasn't anywhere close to a guarantee that the pick would be late 20's. That is using hindsight bias.

Dallas might do it but then again they always think this will be the summer they get a big free agent so who knows if they'd sacrifice cap space.

I just threw two teams out there, I didn’t dive that deep. Point still stands.

This summer is different than any summer in recent memory. There are very few teams with cap space. Those that do aren't likely to use that space on Leonard and #24. It only takes one team though I guess.

I just feel like he’s had a very sharp decline in how much of his stuff comes to fruition, that could not be reality.

Ehh, they save $12M in 19-20 (The last year of Lee's deal) and with Porzingas out they could use a PF next year. I think the Faried for Lee swap actually makes more sense for them.

11 for 15 and 19 has been done in the past. 9 for 14 and 17 is certainly reasonable. For a 5 team trade, that's about as realistic as it could get.

Aren’t trades not allowed to officially be announced until the new year begins anyway? What’s the point of the trade deadline if they were?

I understand that as I read the whole article but not convinced that's what will happen and just offering up my opinion. Wojo also didn't say that it was a deal even being discussed as he was basing it off that Denver has been trying to move Faried for around a year and a half and was just tossing out that the pick might be in play but nothing he suggested says Denver is willing to do that at this stage. Best case scenario I see is that it might be a future first with lottery protection.

No, after your season concludes you can make trades for players that are under contract for next year or picks. The trade deadline is for during the season.

Ok. Teams that can fit Leonard that should be in rebuild mode

    Chicago
    Dallas

So that changes things, although both of these teams could and should be options. Cuban never goes rebuild though even when he should.

Actually I was using projections of standings from several sources before the season started. Hindsight just confirms what they thought.

Very few trades ever happen while the season is still going on as they typically start happening around draft day and then after free agency opens up.

I'd have to go do some research, but it seemed like after he switched to ESPN last summer he started to fall prey to the "always" needing to have a scoop thing. If I remember right on the Kyrie / IT trade he was dead wrong most of the way. Just in general it seems like he does a lot more, "oh there are people talking" type of stuff, and a lot of it hasn't come to fruition. I believe he also "reported" on things with the Kawhi "drama" from this year that the players all denied. I think he was perfect for Yahoo, where he didn't have to always have something to share. On ESPN he's expected to have a scoop all the time.
I'll admit that at least some of it could be in my head.
I assume he'll be back to normal when it comes to the Draft (that's where he's usually ahead of everything).

Pretty sure they wanted him gone last offseason too, but we’ll see I guess.

Man, Woj and Shams and all those guys really fuck up the draft, especially if you forget to turn off notifications or accidentally open twitter. It’s gotten to the point where I literally have to turn my phone off. I wish they’d shut the hell up, just for that one night. If there’s ONE thing the NFL does right, it’s putting the clamps on reporters spoiling draft night.

What about if part of the deal is a switch of the two first round picks; so, our TPE plus 24 for Faried and 14?
