I see now that Bones-Jones already suggested this.

I had mentioned that in one of my other posts that they have allegedly been trying for about 18 months. Also makes you wonder why it never happened as maybe they are expecting more in return, but I think we can agree that a player on an expiring contract is easier to trade than a player with 2 years or more left.

I agree. It's like they are battling to be the first and I would rather just wait for the announcement at the podium.

Every sportsbook I just looked up had them in the 7-10th range in over/under win totals. That is somewhere between 21-24.

It's because Faried sucks and no one wants him.

Edit: I think you are severely underestimating how desperate teams will be to save money and get cap space this summer. Two years ago was crazy. Last year was a little tempered in terms of free agency but the trade market was crazy. Did you see what happened in baseball during the off season? That type of thing is coming to the NBA.

When I said one of the top teams in the east I was figuring top 3- 4 (Boston and Cleveland being the top 2) and then about 6th to 8th over all when you factor in the west as well. That would put them in the 23rd to 25th pick. I definitely wouldn't have put any money on it falling below 20th.

I certainly hope you're right! I fear that we'll use the TPE on a mediocre vet that won't make us meaningfully better (aka Courtney Lee)...if we use it at all. Perhaps I'm jaded. But I'm certainly in favor of using it to get a draft pick higher than 20!

See, it's because I'm not willing to package our pick with one of our shit players that I'm skeptical another team would give us their (better) pick for taking on their (not quite as) shit contract. But perhaps it makes sense for another team, where it doesn't make sense for us?

Maybe, maybe not. Just sharing my opinion and time will tell what happens.

There could be many factors why Farried has never been dealt yet including the length of his contract and the price. Now he is an expiring contract. Now don't get me wrong, I would definitely do the deal if Denver were to offer it, but I just have a hunch there would likely be more to it (more than just adding the 24th)

I think Faried brings a big ego for someone who ultimately hurts spacing and while he makes some flashy defensive plays isn’t a very solid defender. If the Blazers move up I hope it’s in the 8-12 range.

We wouldn't be making this trade for Faried, it would be for the pick. The Blazers don't have enough to get into the 8-12 range without a trade like this first.

I’m still conflicted on whats actually going to happen. Everything suggests they will trade the pick but I also know how much Neil and Paul love the draft. I wish they found a way to trade for a vet AND still have a first.

A trade with the Bucks makes sense if we are strictly going off of Olshey's comments. Dellavedova and #17 for #24. Olshey I think met with him during the 2015 off season and he won a title with the Cavs so he has playoff experience and we move up in the draft.

Are they giving us the 17 just to get rid of delladovas contract?

I can’t see Allen ok’ing that. That’s a lot of money to move up a couple spots.

Unless he and NO think there is a guy at 17 they won’t be able to get at 24. Also Dellavedova does have get experience (Not that, that has helped lately...), and he could be a serviceable back up if Baldwin doesn’t work out.

Thing is they probably could move up a couple spots by just giving up a second. If they’re gonna take on a shitty contract at least get into the lottery.

Of course if the Faried trade is on the table you take it.

I still like the Bayless, 26, and rights to Bolden trade first then trade Bayless and 24 for 17 and Dellavedova so we'd have 17 and 26. That is if the Faried thing doesn't work out.

Yeah, unfortunately they traded their pick next year so they need a 1st back.
