Pulls working on a deal with Seattleites to bring baseball here, and move his Blazers back to his crib.....With a new major league team ion town the pain of losing the Zer's won't be so bad!

From everything ive read there will be no public money used and they have money from something that was passed back when we were close to getting the expos.

LoL. I voted for a Libertarian once in a statewide office, but only because he worked at the Plaid Pantry by my house.

Mass transit is almost essential for any proposed stadium. Timbers rely on mass transit and it works great as I always use max to go to the games whether it be the Timbers or the ocassional Blazer game. Beats trying to fight the bottleneck from a parking lot.

Lloyd center is great for blazers games too.

But yeah, if anything is downtown or i know parking is going to be stupidly priced, ill pay 4 bucks for the "inconvience".

It's not just that though. It's the whole concept of building a structure like a stadium. There has to be a bunch of support and out buildings. Parking structures and transit are all part of the deal. It creates a huge amount of income for the community. You essentially have a thousand people making $1500-1800 a week take home for as long at 18 - 24 months. That is $1.5 to 2 million a week just dumped into the economy through living wages.
Then there are the sustainable jobs the stadium brings not only running the stadium itself but the businesses and infrastructure needed to sustain the area. Don't for a second think this would not be a huge boost to the Portland metro area.

I've got my hopes up several times when it comes to another sports team in Portland. Will they get baseball? Maybe, but I refuse to get my hopes up again

Thats my take too. I hope it happens, and feel that it can, but I don't get too up or down.

    1. It depends on where you live in the PDX area. Those in the outer suburbs are generally screwed, especially when the majority of baseball games are at night. Trimet would have to make some serious schedule adjustments. And I personally have no faith in Trimet’s ability (or willingness) to do the effective thing.

    2. People have to buy into using mass transit. And while we have what is apparently considered one of the better transit systems in the country, it is still under used. The traffic congestion throughout the PDX area at almost any time of the day or night pretty much makes it clear that too many people aren’t interested in using the current mass transit system for any reason.

    3. Sitting in a car in bumper to bumper, snail pace traffic or sitting in a bus in bumper to bumper, snail pace traffic is still sitting in bumper to bumper, snail pace traffic.

I have no real problems with mass transit and actually enjoy using it when appropriate for my needs, but whatever they might end up building needs to address all forms of accessibility. My original comment was intentionally cynical and based on what has generally become Portland leadership’s head in the sand approach to transportation issues......
