Now don't get me wrong as I hate his contract, but I read this in another forum a little while back. Would anyone do it for Leonard and Turner? It gives us an upgrade at SF with a 2 and D guy that is also a pretty good passer. For the next 2 years it would be pretty much even money but we would be stuck with that 3rd year at 27 mil. It definitely improves our roster by moving two albatross contract, one of which plays very little and the other seems to be a favorite forum whipping boy. The benefit for Charlotte is they lose the last year of Batum's contract. Maybe we can squeeze a future pick out it as well. This wouldn;t be my first choice but it would improve us. Lillard Baldwin/ Napier McCollum Connaughton? Batum Harkless Layman Aminu Collins Nurkic Davis Papa G That gives us a solid starting defensive team as well as 3 good ball handlers and playmakers. We could still look to make other moves as well
Ok, any particular reason? Batum could be a 15 5 and 5 player who can guard multiple positions and play as a point forward. The hang up for me is that 3rd year but if we could get a future pick that softens the blow.
Yes. I gave Batum a lot of shit when he was here but I would take him back in a heartbeat over Turner. Throw in the fact we move Meyers too? Sign me up.
My only big issue with this is his contract is crazy compared to his production and it seems like he’s always banged up. My minor issue is that Batum is still very inconsistent, and that can be annoying.
I’d do it even with my above statement but it wouldn’t take long for Blazer fans to remember how inconsistent Batum is, and to look at his contract and complain about it.
I don't know how you guy's can give up on Meyers after only 5 years or so in the league. Hell yes you make that trade!
No, because his contract is longer than burn of theirs, and he's turning into a useless player, just like them.
To be honest, I couldn't care less about what some in this forum would think as there will be those that complain just to complain. He does fit the layout of what PA asked for and Olshey said he is looking to do as he's a veteran and a pretty good one and is more consistent than any small forward we have. I would look elsewhere first, but it would be one that I think would be worthwhile to explore.
Damn! You didn't even put a period!! You don't even want to entertain the THOUGHT of that softy coming back!
Hardly a "worthless player" and the reason Charlotte might do it is because of the extra year on his contract, otherwise Charlotte has no reason to do it. At least it's more realistic than multiple players, multiple draft picks and multiple team type deals.
I don't think Batum would like playing under the Lillard regime. It was a LMA led team when he was here last. But I would still take him back for Turner and Meyers.
Sure sometimes we all complain when it’s maybe not necessary, but Batum has always been somewhat frustrating. It seems like he’s been banged up a lot in Charlotte. I don’t mind the idea, it’s not my first choice, but it does get rid of Leonard and Turner so we turn two bad contracts into 1. I did like moe’s last month of the season prior to injury, he was playing well.
one in every half dozen games...he's beyond wealthy now and he's played like he's retired already ….his numbers with Charlotte make Allan Crabbe look good..I loved good Nico but after his contract extension when we matched his Wolves offer...he mailed it in. What he wants to do is be the head front office guy for the team in France he's invested in....spends a lot of his offseason there....I don't really want any former players back here.....time for new blood...he said Crabbe reminded him of Brandon Roy...….that's just...……...
I don't mind Nic Batum the player and I simply hate having ET along with Meyers. However, I would not make that trade. Our salary cap flexibility is practically non-existent and compiling a massively bloated Batum contract will worsen the pain for an additional year (ET and Meyers @ 2 years each / Batum with another 2 years and a player option - which he should exercise). I say no thanks unless Charlotte wants to sweeten the pot with a first round draft pick. Then I would think about it. I say ride out the shit contracts we have for now and trade when possible without damaging our future cap flexibility.
