Doesn't surprise me, Boston was going to have to play through Telfair to be successful, but that didn't pan out.

I'm kind of happy. I wanted Telfair out, and now Rondo WILL start.

Its not like Telfair was going to play a part in Boston if they had sucess next year. Rondo and Delonte got it covered anyways. No one wants personality like that on the team.

Telfair isn't a bad kid and he doesn't have a bad attitude..he's just a bad decision maker

I'm so dissapointed in Bassy. I sincerely hope he finds his way on another roster and improves as a player.

Whether Telfair was in Boston or not, Rondo would have started. And he may not start next year, it all depends on what happens this summer. If we bring in a veteran point guard, Rondo could be moved to the bench (depending on who it is). We need another point guard, we have to go out and get one.

I'm not sure what goes on in this guy's life, I don't know if he's been working hard, but he's done nothing just as expected, and his stupidity makes it hard to root for him.

For the 157th time, I totally called it. [IMG] I wonder what the market is for Telfair right now, considering what you did to get him last season, this is a huge blunder.

Ugh, that trade was NOT circled around Sebastian Telfair. That trade was made to shave an extra year off Raef's giant contract (hence Theo Ratliff's contract, which expires one year before Raefs - which is after this upcoming season - and will be a big trading chip). Telfair was thrown into the deal as a risk that we could afford to take.

I had to clear that up because everybody thinks that trade was "the 7th pick for Telfair." That wasn't the case. It was made for financial reasons and also due to the fact that the players at #7 (would have been Brandon Roy and Rudy Gay) didn't fit here as it is with Pierce/Wally/Allen/Green/West/Gomes.

In closing, that deal will still benefit us a good deal. It will either help us bring in a good veteran this summer or it will help us re-up our young players who will soon be looking for extensions (Big Al should get one this summer).

A team that I can say might want Telfair may be a team like the sixers, who are in search a of a young back-up PG

Would you do the trade over again?

Honestly, I think I probably would. I love Brandon Roy and it would be great to have him, but he does not fit on this team with so many wings (especially at the time this trade happened, when both TA and Wally were healthy). Like I said above, Ratliff's contract will either bring us in (in a package, obviously) a veteran or it will help us pay off extensions of young players. If we never did this trade, we wouldn't have that valuable expiring contract to deal this year and we also wouldn't have the quick cash relief.

So yes, I think I'd do it again.

There's the difference, Roy is not a point guard. Roy is a combo guard, more of a 2 that can handle spot minutes at the 1. We don't need another 2-guard in Boston.

The only thing that can stop the Telfair trade from becoming a COMPLETE bust is landing a big time player using Theo's expiring contract. That's it. Otherwise that move was a beyond stupid and a disaster of epic proportions...unless it was all part of Danny's master plan to get Oden/Durant. Even then it's incredibly risky.

I'm glad, I hated Telfair since the minute Ainge got him, I do feel bad though because I don't think this guy is a bad dude. He's just an absolute idiot and he is a perfect example of somebody that should have went to college. He's honeslty better off going to Europe and playing along side his brother. I think that would be a good story for Telfair and it would be a change of scenary. His career in the NBA has been a disaster so far.

It's interesting you mention going over to Greece to play with his brother, they would be nice for him. He would be far away from Coney Island (trouble island for Bassy) and his brother pushes him hard. It would benefit him, but I just don't see it happening. I think that SOMEBODY will take another flyer on him in the NBA. Like JB said on Celticsstuff Live, I hope a running team has interest in him (I truly believe Bassy can do well in a running system) and I hope that wherever he goes next is much farther away from Coney Island.
