Saw a Knicks writer suggest this trade: 24 and Leonard for Lee and 36. Would you do it? I’d rather just do Lee for the TPE but that’s easier to say when it isn’t your money.
I didn’t know the number 1 pick is peanuts... and if Courtney Lee is the best option then yes we should blow it up for sure
I still think Denver with Faried/14 could be in play on draft night. We know Olshey and Connolly are tight and like dealing with each other, and outside of Dallas, we’re the only team that could take on Faried without sending back any salary on draft night.
No... I’m saying if the best we can do with the TPE, our only tool to get better if keeping the core, is a 33 year old journeyman who averaged 12 points in 30 min on a 29 win team, then we should blow it up... and Scalma said Lee is the best we can do with TPE
I don't know if the Denver GM want's to trade with the Blazers again. He looked like an amateur in the Nurkic Deal
How oh how can we escape this predicament. 1. Get a GM who is skilled at trading, and finding underrated bargains already in the league. or 2. Olshey stops overrating McCollum, and trades him for 2 good players.
This picture means: Olshey lacks the talent to find and trade for underrated young players, so we might as well consider only old retreads.
Well you aren’t really going to have a team send you a good player just for TPE so all you can do is find a team that want to shed salary. New York aren’t competing for anything but could do with more cap space as they are always an interesting spot in free agency. Outside of that you might get MKG etc. for TPE. That’s the level of player that is available. You might get a pick back in the best case scenario. Can you trade a player or pick along with TPE to match salaries?
Its not our only tool to get better. We have a draft pick. We have all our future draft picks. We have decent young pieces. We have the MLE. We have players that are still developing and getting better. Most importantly, we have time. Lee is a very good defender, who plays better off of someone who can attack, as he's a spot up shooter. Think of Crabbe if he could defend. That's not a bad player. But if thats not your cup of tea, we could use it to trade up in the draft.
It turns an overpaid player that is languishing on the bench accomplishing nothing into a useful veteran 3&D guard, while preserving the TPE to potentially be used to bring in another useful piece.
