The only thing I could think of, is hearing from a good friend of Patty Mills' in SA that playing there isn't always all its cracked up to be. Pop runs a tight ship, they do some things like a "Daily Vitamin" where each player has to check in with one coach every day and talk with them for an hour. Every day - home or away, game day or not. Things like that, isn't for some players. Again, its a long shot for him to leave SA to go to Portland because it doesn't appear to address what perhaps is appealing to him (LA, NY). But maybe he just wants a change of scenery.
