Didn't you promise 33 to Utah? Can we see if the trade works before I commit?

I've talked out something with Utah that will fully guarantee Cleveland a 2019 1st.

It also allows the CLE swap to happen.

@Chris Craig I switched up the swap protections a little bit, still the same basis.

    CLE Gets:
Kawhi Leonard, Danillo Gallinari, Ekpe Udoh, Thabo Sefelosha (TPE), Worst of 2019 SAS/UTA 1sts*
SAS Gets: #5, #10, #21, 2020 CLE 1st (Top 3 Protected), Dwight Powell, Jonas Jerebko, Cedi Osman, Ante Zizic,
UTA Gets: #30, J.R. Smith, Kevin Love, Best of 2019 SAS/UTA 1sts (Top 6 Protected)*
    DAL Gets: #13, LaMarcus Aldridge
    ATL Gets: #8, #33

*If SAS 2019 1st is Top 6, CLE receives 2019 UTA 1st, and UTA receives 2020 SAS 1st (Top 10 Protected through 3 years then unprotected) - Utah still has a 1st round pick in 2018 (#30) which allows them to trade their 2019 1st to Cleveland if San Antonios 2019 Pick is 6 or higher. (In this scenario, UTA essentially swaps it for a SAS 2020 1st). If both Utah's and San Antonio's 2019 firsts are top 6, protections are waved, and Utah gets the best while Cleveland gets the worst (very unlikely).

This guarantees Cleveland a 2019 1st, which allows them to trade #8 (2018) as well as their 2020 1st.

This trade works without Gallinari and Love, so they can be traded for each other.

You should read more of the thread. It'll answer your question. Cleveland trades for Kawhi to keep LeBron, while taking Gallinari in the process (who actually wouldn't be a terrible fit there as a stretch 4).

Does San Antonio look like the type of team that wants to go into full rebuild? This probably makes Ginobli's decision to go ahead and retire as well. With Kawhi, they should be able to get back at least one all star level player and then some solid role players. Instead hey get a few draft picks in this draft and mediocre role players and they lost 2 all stars. I see you're the GM for the Spurs so I expect an earful from Popovich for you, lol.

I'm halfway done with the spreadsheets. Then I got to make all the trade changes to them. It will be a game changer when they are done though.

    Lmao.

Getting the 5th, 8th, and 21st picks in the draft along with Bobby Portis, Powell, and Olynyk while creating $60M in cap space?

They're not gonna get an all-star, let alone solid role players to go along with it. Solid role players can be signed this summer on the cheap. And why would they want to stay old? You really don't think Popovich wouldn't love developing Doncic+Bridges or some combination of the two? He would. This team will still be competitive and will also have a young core in place.

Powell isn't mediocre either. Do your research.

Haven't been able to run the numbers yet, will be much easier with the spreadsheets up to date. I also have something else in the works that could possibly effect whether or not I have the 30th pick so hold tight.

Also, I'm not sure the league would allow such a complicated protection of picks. It kind of feels like the rules are being skirted because future picks don't have much consequence for trading away.
