I remember an incident where a U.N. team composed of Americans went out into the DMZ to trim a tree, allowed in the cease fire treaty, so they could have a better view. North Koreans attacked them with hand held farm implements and hacked the team to death. I've also known soldiers stationed there who've told me about some fire fights across the DMZ. Yeah, it's hot.
