You give the U.S. Republican Party line as if no one disagrees. Most European capitalists disagree with your absolutism.
They aren't self regulating. That was collectively agreed upon. They don't just make rules like this themselves.
Was the one-and-done rule foisted upon the NBA by external forces, or did the owners of the various franchises of a single entity (the NBA) come up with it collectively absent any governmental influence? As far as I'm concerned, that's private enterprise self-regulating.
Why is self-regulation better than external regulation? It's still artificial man-made regulation. Let nature rule. For example, if I feel like killing someone, what's the problem?
Neither. They came up with it and it was agreed upon in the CBA. It took negotiating. That's not self regulating, that's consensus.
As a vet I definitely think the military is socialistic in nature...I've mentioned this before but join up and you waive a lot of rights americans enjoy....the military is absolutely patterned after socialistic principles..
As a vet, I disagree. If our military was socialistic, it would own all the factories that make their weapons and supplies. I believe the nearest label for our military would be "meritocracy".
Who said anything about me being a republican? Im a proud libertarian that thinks both radical lefties and righties are so far out their both lost. Im just for smaller gov, fiscally responsibility and for social equality. And abide by the law and believe in the constitution...I have for most of my almost 70 years! Im out on this one as it should be in OT. see, even an old fisherman fart like me can learn.
Try refusing to throw aerosol cans and pollutants in the ocean on a garbage rep in the navy sometime..you'll get court martialed..it's absolutely socialistic in nature...even the Nazis farmed out manufacturing to the Austrians....doesn't change the fact that uniforms and military regulations are socialistic...and you do not have freedom of speech in the military unless you also want to risk the brig....you cannot refuse a direct order even if you're correct
You're conflating the economic system of socialism with the regulatory system of a dictatorship. Two completely different things.
No...I'm saying you give up many democratic freedoms when you join the military and it's very similar to a socialistic organization....one might say Mao was both a socialist and a dictator....what does refusing to throw pollutants in the ocean on a garbage detail have to do with economics? What does getting court martialed for refusing a direct order have to do with economics? I think perhaps you are not understanding the point I was trying to make. I know the difference between political systems and military doctrine....socialistic organizations have chains of command and levels of power. Farming out manufacturing was in response to the military contracts we have with subcontractors.....I'm talking more about the culture of military life and the lack of certain freedoms when you sign up.
I was going to let this topic go away after your first post. But since you brought it up again, here goes. If you work for a corporation, and refuse to do something your boss tells you, you can be fired. Using your analogy, corporations are now socialism. When you were in the Navy, dumping garbage in the ocean was the accepted practice. The last ocean barge full of New York City trash was emptied in the ocean in 1992. Hitler did farm out some of the manufacturing to other countries, due to a shortage of workers. But he also conned thousands of French women to Germany to work in his factories. The woman were treated like slaves. Most never made it back to their homes in France after the war. Plus, you really made socialism sound horrible. Loss of freedom of speech will never fly in this country. Sorry dude, but you asked for it, twice.
not at all...I take no offense to it...the private sector and job responsibilities are not the point I was making...corporations don't have corporate jails as far as I know...…different topics..you could do your job perfectly in the military and tell someone of a higher paygrade they're wrong and get confined to base….that's not what happens in the world of free enterprise….I got out of the Navy in 1973 so I can't speak for the post 1992 stuff....I did however see garbage barges dumping in the 1980s in Cambodia.....I was told they paid poor people there to look the other way
Yeah...that's exactly my point. The lack of freedom you're describing has nothing to do with socialism. Yes, you often see one with the other, but they're not one and the same.
I think you're referring to social democracy.....not a govt like the USSR....united soviet socialist republic...where speaking your mind got you a Siberian prison sentence or death...maybe both. Or Mao's red guard...
That would depend upon what job fired me....I'd rather not work somewhere where I would be fired for no good reason. I can tell a CEO to fuck off but that doesn't fly in the military.
Not me. I just said you spouted the Republican line. Exactly. Riverman, you've been indoctrinated in a political definition of socialism and need to learn the economic definition. (Hint: Socialists say it's about how much power rich Trumps should have. Rich conservatives say it's about how much power government should have. Between the government meritocracy and the gilded rich born into power...whenever one decreases in power, the other gains power.)
