So will I! You don’t get to have Dirk for 20 years and then nab the next great Euro

It sounds like there are multiple picks available to us if we're willing to use our TPE to take on a contract.

I'd happily take Morris with our bigger TPE. Morris and Satoransky. Meeks. It's a lot of $$, but Morris would be a solid scoring addition to the bench.

Morris' salary is very reasonable. And Satoransky is a damn good PG prospect. But I'd do that an instant. Crabbe TPE for Morris, Vonleh TPE for Satoransky, 24 for 15. That saves them about 15 mil for next year when you add it all up. Doubt they'd do it though.

If anything, I anticipate they want to get rid of Gortat/Mahinmi. We can't absorb either of these guys with our TPE however.

Actually, Gortat does fit into the Crabbe TPE for the next 11 days.

True. After July 1, he will make 13.6 mil and be out of consideration. Good call.

    24 for Gortat + 15.

Does 15 get us any closer to our target (prospect or otherwise?). That bigger TPE is one of our most valuable assets.

The interesting aspect of grabbing Gortat for our TPE is, with the TPE, we can basically take back 13 million. If we then looked to flip Gortat as an expiring, to someone who might want him, we could take back about 17 million, opening up our trade possibilities.
But, I'd prefer Morris if they'd do it.

I have a timing question. If we use our TPE before July 1 and become a "tax team" once free agency starts, will we lose our non-taxpayer MLE?

It makes so much more sense for WAS to do this themselves at the deadline. It seems like teams will start valuing expiring contracts more.

you've been here long enough to know that rumors in the media don't indicate activity. Nothing ever gets out with Neil.

He's trying. He is just very tight lipped and only talks to Woj when it is time.

We're already in the tax for next year,I believe, so would only have the taxpayer make anyways. If we weren't, and used the full, we would not be able to go into the tax after(no nurk)

Even if Neil is very tight lipped, there are two sides to every trade discussion... how is it possible there are no leaks from the other side if he is really making lots of calls

Not sure why. He pulls the ball down when he receives it and he pulls back slightly on his "follow through".

I'll watch when I get home tonight.

No thanks. If they want to dump Gortats entire contract they shouldn’t expect anything in return. Adding the 15th pick is just incentive. But I’d do Gortat/15 for Crabbe TPE.

Adding the 24th pick makes little sense for Portland. You give up your best asset and take on 13m (plus tax) just to move up 9 spots? Nah.

Like if Neil is offering CJ to other teams, how has that information gotten out from the other team’s side

But Washington has 10 guys under contract for next year, and is already at 124 in salary. And wall has issues with Gortat. It's already a flawed roster. I don't think they want to pay tax again for an 8th seed
