Text actually isn't bad. Just if there over contrasted parts after you put in the layer, erase that part of it with a soft brush.

Added a V3 with a bit less contrast if anyone cares...I'm considering getting Photoshop, but my only gripe is that I've been using PSP forever and I have become very comfortable with it. But I'll see...
