Awesome...Calderon got a vote Anyway, Manu also had a great year, but I would have voted for Barbosa also...He's just such a spark in the Suns offense.....It's really amazing to watch him go to work...He is one of the best shooters in the League, especially from three, and he is also maybe the quickest player in the League. He blows by his defenders so easily, he's great at driving in for a layup.If I was voting, I would have went:1) Barbosa2) Ginobili3) David Lee (this guy is a beast on the boards...He gets 10 a night in just under 30 minutes of play...He's also very active underneath the basket, and he can shoot the jumper too)
McDyess would have gotten a much better shot at this had he not had a subpar start to the season. The old new ball really messed him up early on, he was probably the most heavily effected player. He's been money for us down the stretch though.
He did great this year coming off the bench, sometimes scoring 20-25+ a night. Good choice. He or Ginobili should have gotten it.

As for the award, Barbosa definitely deserved it. I'm surprised David Lee didn't get more votes though.
Does anyone happen to know what the cut-off line is between starter and 6th man? I know theres got to be a certain # of starts that you have to be under.

So you can start 40 games and still win 6th man of the year.
Conventionally this award goes to the best scorer. And that is why Jose Calderon only got 3 pts. He has been much more valuable than many of those players and should be higher. It doesn't help that he plays in Canada either. He could start at PG for many teams. As for Barbosa. He was the best out of the list individually, but he played a whopping 32mpg. Ginobli played 27mpg, and made a bigger impact to the Spurs success.

Anyone who's watched Suns basketball knows how important Barbosa is. I'd say the Suns would have at least 5 less wins this year without him. He's crucial.
was that rule that you had to be on the bench a majority of the games in action last year? Because I remember David West, who started 73 games, get a SMOY vote from an idiot New Orleans journalist who voted PJ Brown for MVP once, so clearly it was allowed back them.
